installing resources-- "Truncated data in huffman tables (#2)"

Submitted by Helix_Luco on

hello, nice to meet all of you!

i've just been attempting to install Morroblivion, i have a steam version of the base games on a PopOs machine. Everything seems to work, more or less, until i get to part 3; installing resources.

i can't seem to get Wrye Bash to work with Wine, so i decided to try installing them manually. But when i try to extract the .rar file, i get an error "Truncated data in huffman tables (#2)".

have any of you seen this before? anything i should try?

i've been fiddling with it a little more and made some progress. i reinstalled everything, used the regular oblivion launcher to *activate* everything this time, and during the resource installation i tried extracting each component individually, which allowed me to narrow down the (data compression?) issue down to two culprits; Morrowind_ob-Textures, and Morrowind_ob-Sounds.

the older versions of the resource folders are, thankfully not in .rar format, which means i can extract them fine. so i took copies of these files from the 065 version and put them where the corrupted files of the 066 version are meant to go. and voila, it stopped crashing on launch/character creator. welcome to pinktown

obviously i'm still missing a hell of a lot of textures. my only idea of how to fix that would be to get e version of the v066 Morrowind_ob-Textures, and Morrowind_ob-Sounds that i can unpack. is there a non .rar version of the resource files that i just didn't notice?
