Troubleshooting Elys USV

Submitted by TheGreyChangeling on

I still can't get it to work right. It seems to have affected the length of time that the NPCs lips are moving but not affected the subtitles themselves. Someone on Nexus suggested it might have to do with a bad uninstall/reinstall but thats not the case. This was the first mod on a clean GOTY/Morroblivion install. They also suggested that maybe the installer I used messed things up, but I actually installed it by hand (so to speak) - created the necessary folders and copied all three files according to the very, very brief readmes instructions. I've checked the green box on Wrye Mash to launch the game with OBSE and I've tried skipping bash and just using the OBSE launcher itself. Either way my other OBSE plugins work fine. Its just this one that isn't.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

If the lips are moving but it cuts out fast, I presume you're missing the 8 second silent voice file. Check if you have created the folders with the right name.

The MP3, dll, and .lip are all in the Plugins folder inside the OBSE folder in the Data folder in the Oblivion folder in the Games folder of the C drive.

And I eventually replaced the 8 second file with the  20 second file from another mod I found listed on this site, but that didn't help. The subtitles still cut out in like two seconds.

Funny, I had this problem when I tried changing to the 20 second .mp3. I don't have any trouble with the .mp3 that she provides, however...huh.  (And yes, I did change the filenames and all that.)

Do you have any other OBSE Plugins running in your installation? Nifse, AVuncapper, anything like that?

:) Thank you Mooncat! I'm not sure what combination of actions was necessary...but you were right about the final piece of the puzzle. The 20 second MP3 was breaking the mod. When I restored the original 8 second MP3 it has finally started functioning.

Not sure what the problem might have been before I replaced the MP3...which is a shame cuz I know that there are others who have had issues getting it to work and it would have been cool to be able to post a heads up here, on PES & the Nexus...but good to know about the MP3 though I'm not sure I understand why it should matter which silent MP3 is used? Possibly how things were scripted in OBSE?
