Morrowind Style Merchants

Submitted by John 117 on

Has anyone thought about making the merchants in morrowind like the ones from the game, Where they would equip items you sold them?

In my opinion that's one thing that made the game more realistic.

Unfortunately, I already spent countless hours adding oblivion-style merchant chests to each of the 300+ merchants so that we can make use of the added features of Oblivion's merchants system.  Unfortunatley, since each merchant has a vendor chest now, they will store items there instead of in their personal inventory (which means they won't equip the items you sell them).

It's kind of a trade-off, but I think the benefits in the future of having vendor chests for each merchant definitely outweigh the drawbacks, as it really makes it MUCH easier to edit merchant inventories, and also removes some potential problems with the game.  For example, since you can have AI in Oblivion's engine, what would happen if you sold a merchant a few sets of Iron armor (or other heavy items)?  They would become encumbered and could no longer execute their AI packages because they couldn't walk.
