Two graphic errors I cannot seem to figure out

Submitted by Orgintellectual on

Hello everyone.

This is my first post here, and I want you to know I searched through all the bug reports/errors and did a search with the key words I was looking for before posting a new issue! I simply couldn't find anyone who had these two problems. Also, I (think) followed the detailed readme installation instructions for Morroblivion exactly. Perhaps I made a mistake, but I'm not sure where, I was quite keen on paying attention to them.

1) For whatever reason, enchanted/magical swords (I have not yet seen any other magic/enchanted weapons so I cannot comment) are entirely red, as if the magic texture is missing. It looks really silly, especially when you're using one. I'm not sure what would have caused this, but I'll list my mods/load order below.

2) First person graphics work great (although I cannot get 1st person legs to work, but that's another issue I don't want to address here) EXCEPT when I am using a bow and arrow, in which case it works fine until I draw back the arrow and prepare to fire. As long as the bow/arrow is drawn back and ready to fire, my RIGHT hand disappears completely and the arrow appears to be floating in midair with nothing holding it back. This is not, of course, a total disaster in terms of graphics, but it is sort of annoying. Is there any idea what might cause this? Incompatability with something? Perhaps it is not Morroblivion at all, but DR6? I'm not sure, but was hoping someone could give me some pointers.

Here is my load order:

The only way to debug an issue like this is:

1) Disable all other mods except what is required for Morroblivion, see if you still get the problem.

A) If you still have the problem, reinstall Morroblivion - did you get all of the VI compenents?  All of the additional support files listed on the project release thread etc.

B) If you don't still have a problem, then one of your other mods is causing it.  The Deadly Reflex mods would be my suspect...

Thanks.

I tired number 1 of your suggestions, at which I got the same results. Some missing/messed up textures (I've noticed more as well, Skooma potions are totally black, the doors in Vivec are fine except for the edges where the concave part of the door meets the part about an inch further out, in that thin line it is all multicolored) still. Not gamebreaking, by any means, but definitely detracts.

I am about 99% sure I got all of the support files. I'm not sure how I could have missed them, I followed the detailed readme exactly, step-by-step, etc.

I have not yet done the reinstall. I don't know if I will, yet anyway.

Another problem I have noticed is that I cannot free any slaves, even if I have a key. Aside from the one slave that I had to personally take to the Argonian mission, none of them will go free. My only text option with slaves is "Taunt." This has been a MAJOR bummer, as finding and freeing slaves has always been one of the coolest parts of Morrowind for me. Any idea what might be causing this/how I might go about fixing it? I do not think there are any mods I have installed that would affect slave dialogue...

Thanks for your help.

Have a look at your Oblivion's video properties (in-game) ... and make sure that Texture Size is set to "Large" ...

Good call! That fixed the texture issue! Thank you.

Any hunch on the inability to release slaves? I've heard there are some conflicts with Thermogen's transport mod, but I'm not using that.

I have freed 117 slaves in-game, so I know freeing slaves works very well. You did not indicate WHY you cannot free slaves, but presumably it is because the topic is not there. If you have never freed ANY slave, and have not spoken to anybody about slavery, ask a slave about his "Background." I have not heard, specifically, about any conflict with Slaves in Thermador's CAT mod.

First, no idea there was that many slaves in Morrowind! Wow!

Second, yes, the only option available when I speak to a slave is "Taunt." No other option ever appears, no matter which slave I speak with. I have spoken with people (Eldafire in Seyda Neen first) about slavery. She explained it was legal in Morrowind, etc. No "background" option appears. :(

Not sure what would be causing it. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Quick update regarding slaves, just in case anyone else runs into this problem. I fixed it by approaching a slave, opening the console, selecting the slave, and typing "addtopic 1goSfree" and from then on every slave had the option to be freed (if I had the appropriate key).
