For those only who do not like Steam.

Submitted by davyou5 on

This Subject and Topic are only for those of you; like me, who do not like Steam, and never wanted it "Forced" upon you to install into your systems.

I am starting this topic for the intention of research and information gathering. I do plan to file a Lawsuit against Bethseda for reasons as follows. .

1. Steam should have been made an option for those who already have Steam or would just like to try it.

2. If in the interest of Safe Guarding against Piracy, there should have been some built in software to communicate and verify with another computer in the company (Or a third party Service) the Product you have purchased and installed on your Computer and its ID tag.

3. For those of who can not install Skyrim because you live in an area that does not have High Speed internet, or can not afford to have the internet in the Home. IE, wasting your time and money because you were never informed before hand that you would have to have this as a requirement (Regardless of the fact it was stated on the Games Box or not).

There would probably be more reasons than just these three. However for the interest of those of you who have been long time Fans of the Elder Scrolls series and having to install a program which you neither want nor need installed, the use of such a third party as become nothing but a hinderance and in many ways a violation of your rights.

So far Steam's reputation is not as grand standing as others make it out to be. Not but two days after having to Agree to install the service did it report of being Hacked into.

Personally speaking I knew of Steam, but never wanted it as a service. Having to install the game and agreeing to its services "under duress".

For those of you who would point out that you can run the game without Steam, turn Steam off, or uninstall Steam and "Just Google it". . These are false statments, I have look into the internet for all of these options but came up empty handed. If you in install the game you install Steam, if you uninstall Steam you uninstall the Game. These to are just inseparable with or with out the patch.

In all of the times in the course of a year that I have been following up on the news about Skyrim and watching video game play, did one article or comment not come up to speak about having to use Steam as a Service and that it would be a requirement.

As soon as I get my required information IE, Specs, Further Complaints, Finding a Gaming Group or Community to back me, and Hiring a Lawyer. I will later come back to probably with a link to fill out information,  for those of you opposed to the "Forced" use of Steam and if you know of someone or you are someone who can not install Skyrim because of the internet requirement that was not stated until late. They to will be known for the agrument. Later though there will be a requirement to get the names and how to contact these individuals, this will be a help to this case.

In the mean time I need the information of a Gaming Group or Community who will stand behind me and others in this case,  I also need to find a lawyer who would also be willing to take such a case.  Your comments and complaints on this matter are also welcome on this topic, the more I know the better information I can pass on to a potiental lawyer.

This is not the place for such topics.  There are already tons of threads on this on the offical forums and nexus forums.

If you want to play Skyrim w/o steam there are plenty of ways to do so if you want to spend a few minutes searching for how to do that.
