Crashing on v51 but not on v26

Submitted by Evil Metro on

I recently updated my version to v51, but when I exit the ship at the start, I immediately crash no matter what. I even lowered my settings to very low and it still crashes. I reinstalled version 26 and it works perfectly. Can someone help me out?

A lot was added between v026 and v051, so you probably do not have all the required files installed. Make sure you have everything installed that is listed on my project page.

I already have all the required things, and I can start the game fine. Sometimes I can exit the boat and everything works perfectly and surprisingly fast. I then go inside the first building and talk to the man who assigns your class and birthsign and exit the building through the other doorway, but once I step outside there, I crash. I did every possible thing, like check for conflicting mods and lowering my settings to Very Low. I disabled all my mods except for Morroblivion, Unofficial Oblivion Patch and COBL, but still no luck. Sometimes if I'm lucky, I'll make it out alright, but I'll just crash if I enter and exit another building. It works fine in interiors, but extremely unstable outside.

Also, on a side note, you should update your Vvardenfell Imports links. If you go to the page and click on mirrors, it'll bring you to MegaUpload, which has been taken down. I already have Vvardenfell Imports and Vvardenfell Imports Addons, but I got these around mid 2011, so if it hasn't changed since then, I am good.

Your second post is much different than your first post. From what you described in your first post, I would immediately think missing textures, probably from some creature. From what you describe in your second post, it sounds like the buffer overrun that plagues this entire project. Oblivion simply was not designed to handle what we've done to it in Morroblivion. The following excerpt is what advice I have from my main Project Thread: ================================================================= Stray Random Crashes ================================================================= If you experience seemingly random crashes (usually in the wilderness) then this is because of Cell Buffer Overrun, NOT something inherently wrong with cell XYZ. Oblivion was simply not designed to encompass Morrowind and all it's denizens. However, by doing three things, I have all but eliminated these crashes. By doing these three things, I have gotten Oblivion back to it's normal level of "stability." 1. Purge Cell Buffers Mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9139 >>> Set to Purge with Every Cell, NOT just Loading. 2. Disable "View Distant Land" under Options. 3. Walk, don't run. I can crash the game at will by running, and it does not take very long. I personally believe that these crashes are because of the enormous number of creatures in the large Morrowind Worldspace that taxes the Oblivion Game engine to the breaking point. I do Not believe it is because of trees or poorly optimized meshes, as some others have suggested. But, by doing these three things, I have gone from crashing every few minutes, to as I indicated, Oblivion's normal level of "stability."

I don't understand, it works PERFECTLY in v26 and I have already done the things said on the Stray Random Crashes thread.

Edit: Alright, I'm going to reinstall all my Morroblivion files, even the ones that are not updated just in case. I will comment the outcome on this thread.

Edit: It seems that a complete fresh reinstallation worked. Now it runs perfectly without a single crash. I'm sorry for wasting your time on this issue, and thank you for your help.
