are the ponds meant to look like this

Submitted by nesin on

hey ive installed the Compete Installation version 052 so its meant to have the Visual Overhaul by Eloth but the ponds still look like they did in the original Morrowind game. Even Morrowind Overhaul MSGO mod upgrades the ponds with clear transparent water for a subtle but big improvement

As this pic shows its completely opaque like slimey green ground texture, and considering everything else looks so good including all other water details, seems out of place and ugly. Is that still the standard look in Morroblivion or would i be missing files to fix it?

Can anyone atleast confirm this is how their game looks?

I found a file browsing thru the texture folders using the same image called TxUBCUscum.dds and tried turning it transparent but the ponds still show up like above so mabye that files for other locations

Muck ponds are full of muck. A muck pond is not supposed to look like water ..

A muck pond is green and slimy. Look here -->

lol its alittle more severe than pond muck, more like festering raw sewege, and your screenshot shows a completely different texture file and nowere near as bad. The screenshot iposted shows its using THIS texture, just not the actual file: its the exact shad of fluro green and has the other details to match. I guess i could live with it if it was inocuous as yours looks, but seeing what look like sewage ponds all over the place is disgusting

what he is using is the version without eloth overhaul.

sorry there is nothing wrong they have always looked that way, this includes back in the original game morrowind.

hey elderago, are you saying you think Stef's using another texture pack like the one by Hamishi1 or only the core files from the project release thread. If thats how the basic Morroblivion looks, then i should be able to remove the 'restored' pond texture from Eloths mod (as in restored back to the vanilla Morrowind look)

I'm using whatever comes with the original install.

Below is the part of your original post I don't understand.  For me, the muck ponds should look like muck .. not water. I guess if you want the muck to look like water that's your choice. Original MW and morroblivion make muck look like muck .. all slimy and green.

hey, thanks for clearing that up, the change made with MGSO is from this mod, and i just attempted to replace the Eloths mod files with whats uploaded in that, and it partly works, but has a missing mesh. and the texture file iteself doesnt appear

Heres how it looks now, but its meant to add small water lilies  like this cause thats what the texture file adds, plus the mod doesent include a normal map. Havent learnt to use blender so dont know how to see what the problem is, but something works and somethings still missing (btw i replaced the files TerrainUBCUscumU01 02 and 03 meshes and the TXUBCUscum texture in the respective morro/f folders and they were renamed)

normal maps from texturs are easy to generate use gimp and the normal map plugin to generate

brilliant, i figured thatd be a last minute thing once the water issue was sorted but turns out the normal maps really necessary for the lilies to show right. And the water issue is cause the TerrainUBCUscumU01.nif makes the water opaque and its necessary, swapping it out with the Morrowind equivalent does nothing

So got a temporary fix and uploaded the files here just a texture and normal map and with only those two, now looks like this
