Nirnroot in Morrowind, and "hiding" Oblivion quests.

Submitted by sylandro on

Hello, first of all congratulations for all the collective efforts that have made this mod reach its current state.

I've encountered something odd, I was playing Morroblivion v053 when I found this:

It's located under the dock that leads to the Prison Ship in Seyda Neen, and picking it activates the Seeking Your Roots quest. What is the reason behind this, was it intentionally added, or was another plant wrongly converted in my installation? I have never played Morrowind but as far as I know, there are no Nirnroots in Vvardenfell. I have no gameplay-altering mods other than the complete installation package made by Thermador.

Also, is there a way to mod the Oblivion quests to start as completed (thus never being able to start them)? I've created a separate Morroblivion installation using mTESIV so I can play both Oblivion and Morro separately, as if they were different games, and so far it's working perfectly, except that some Oblivion quests are still triggered, like the one above, the Tutorial, and A Door to Niben Bay once a day has passed (I know this is nitpicky as some people like both worlds to coexist in the same game).

I do not think that it is possible to separate the 2 worlds as far as quests are concerned because morroblivion is a mod for oblivion just like any other mod,and therefore is conected to the oblivion game in some ways.

If it was TC [total convertion] then what you are seeing would [or should not happen],but it is just bigger mod.

Those popups are generated by the oblivion game and contain a choice to continue or make the quest your current one.

If you are in the morrowind world just click continue.

I think the Seeking Your Roots quest is a morrowind quest, but not sure.

What i've done is simulate a total conversion by having separate installations, and so far it's doing a great job hiding that it's a mod, if it wasn't for this and A Door to Niben Bay.

Seeking your roots is an Oblivion quest that is automatically activated when you pick up a Nirnroot. There are no Nirnroots in Morrowind (according to the wiki, since I haven't played the original), that's what I found strange.

Read the Readme. The Nirnroot was tucked under the dock so that if you want to make a Quest with no Quest Markers active this is the perfect candidate. If you don't want it or don't think it should be there... then don't pick it up.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't read that part of the readme. You can close this topic now, I made my own esp that disables these quests.
