Morroblivion vs Morrowind overhaul

Submitted by demonik420 on

Hey all

First let me say I am not new to morroblivion or skywind.. I have been following the project for years but have only recently installed it for the first time as it is now more or less complete.

secondly I have a question, and yes I know this has probably been asked a thousand times however...  I have installed morroblivion with several mods like eloths textures ect..  I am wondering if the low framerate is normal and if there is any way to speed things up.. for example.. in the beginning my game is choppy.. its not horrible its around 20-25 fps sometimes when turning around or looking at the town. its noticeably choppy and stuttering.. my pc specs are below..  I am asking this because I also have a heavily modded morrowind with the morrowind overhaul installed and everything cranked to the highest possible settings and the game looks amazing but morroblivion runs choppy and doesnt look even close to as good..

I don't even have OBGE installed because if the game is already choppy im afraid of what it will be like when i try to use OBGE :(.  The only reason I want to play Morroblivion over morrowind is the better combat and a few other things like better character models ect but if I cant get it running good Ill have to go for morrowind because with the overhaul it looks amazing and has everything from DOF to AO and beautiful god rays and water.  Any help would be awesome thanks :)

I also forgot the mention that I really hope that there is something that can be tweeked cause now I'm afraid that Skywind will be totally unplayable on my computer

As of right now at least, I think Skywind runs better on my computer than Morroblivion.  The Skyrim engine is much better optimized.  I'm not sure what else you could try though, maybe Oblivion stutter remover?

Those specs make it look like you should be able to run even Skyrim on what, high settings?

yeah i run skyrim on the highest settings with a full featured ENB system [Depth of field, AO, AA, Bloom, as well as many other features] and the high rez texture pack and many many texture replacer.. and climates of tamriel weather mod and realistic lighting overhaul.. my skyrim is probably about double the power to run of vanilla skyrim (probably an exaggeration lol) and it runs smooth as glass.   also I had one last question if anyone has an answer.. My distant trees and stuff dont seem to exist.. when I walk closer to an area trees suddenly appear out of nowhere.. is there not a distant tree modle that I should be able to see from farther away?

Just a suggestion regarding your trees problem...

Go to your SkyrimPrefs.ini and search for fTreeLoadDistance, you should find it under [TerrainManager].

This value should be set to 75000 by default, and you could go higher if your computer can handle it (like 500000, but at 75000 they should not pop up)

So what you should see is:

fTreeLoadDistance=75000.0000

Hope I helped :)
