Wondering if anyone uses Mod Organizer with Skywind, Skyblivion or Morrowblivion.
I'm going to Test this so any knowledge of other peoples experiences would be useful.
I've been to busy to test before with Moving Official Mod Organizer Support to STEP Forums for last few months. where we are providing Support for Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Morrowind is not Officially Supported which means we help but no Mod Organizer bug fixes will be done for it.
As Skywind, Skyblivion and Morrowblivion use Skyrim and Oblivion Engines and are basically Mods of Supported Games, I think support for using Mod Organizer with them will be Official Support.
I am a moderator of the Official Support Forum, the above is my opinion not official commitment which only Tannin (The Author) can provide, testing that no Morrowind Bug Fixes are required will probably ensure support.
Having said that, the advantage of using Mod Organizer is Each Mods Files are installed in separate folders and only vanilla Skyrim assets are in Data Folder. It uses a Virtual Data Folder built on the fly (Hooking Method not SymLinks, Junctions) using Vanilla Assets and the active profiles current mods.
Advantages
- Clean Data Folder always with just Vanilla Files
- Profile Switching is simple as no files are moved at all
- Each Mod kept in own Folder so Install Order is just a priority list changed using Drag and Drop
- Only One Mod Folder is required for all profiles that use it.
- Optional Mod Versions can have Separate Folders (Only using one at a time per profile of course) easy to switch
- Testing Builds having separate profiles are easily switched
- Tools like BOSS, TESEdit, Wrye Bash (for Bashed Patch) when opened by Mod Organizer see the Virtual Data Folder and act as if it's the Real Data Folder to them it is!
- If you use Free Commander instead of Windows Explorer then when opened by Mod Organizer navigating to real Data Folder (usually ..\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data) you will see Virtual Data Folder Contents (Other File Managers may do this we know Free Commander does)
- Many more features
Disadvantages
Unique Methods have a learning curve, Wrye Bash is Harder to Learn, so it's not that difficult. Some have problems changing ingrained habits, then it suddenly clicks and all makes sense.
Advertisement Feature Over.
This seemed the best place to post this, though not actually a problem it is about problems, both asking for existing knowledge and providing Mod Organizer users with the new support setup details.
