Classes

Submitted by Rex Feral on

Hey guys, new around here, just heard about the mod and thought I'd come help in case you need more testers.

But let me get to the point of this topic, will Skywind feature classes as they were in Morrowind ? Or will it be like Skyrim?

I for one would love having classes as they give a feeling of uniqueness to the player-character and it adds to its customizability, further fleshing out the character you want to embody, but I understand it's no small feat implementing them. Besides that certain skills that were present in Morrowind like Axe or Blunt weapons or Short swords have been replaced with the generic One handed weapons skill. Implementing new skill trees would be tricky, though not at all impossible.

P.S. Sorry if there is another thread discussing this, I just created an account and didn't browse all the forum threads

We have birthsigns but not classes, currently. This is because of Skyrim's leveling system, you don't choose which skills give you level ups because they all do.

Could you implement classes a little differently? Make it so if you pick a class for warriors it will make it so their one handed skill for example increases faster? Similar to the standing stone in Skyrim.

i don't think they will do because this mod has to be as much vanilla (skyrim) as possible for compatibility reasons. Any change like that will affect also skyrim gameplay, it can't be limited to only skywind playthrough. As consequence, at best they will develop a special mod that will do that and it would apply globally, even if you don't have skywind installed. Also check if there aren't any existing mods on nexus that already do this or similar.

From what i know there isn't possible to add new skill trees, but only to modify existing ones. Also i do no know that in existing skill trees we can insert new weapon classes. For example define all spears / halberds as new polearms category (similar to swords / axes / maces ) and be able to add specific perks in the two handed skill tree just for them.

Also, since the game starts in skyrim environment you can use whichever guardian stone you like or you can find.

There is no current plan to change levelling, classes, etc.. The basic gameplay is intended to be Skyrim vanilla so that we're compatible with most of the mods out there.

- If you use a mod that changes those (ie requiem), it may or may not be compatible. If it's compatible then perfect, if not then the mod author or any enthousiast might create compatibility patch.

- anyone is entitled to work on a specific mod for Skywind to modify all this (Skywind already has some optional mods)
