This looks amazing, it really captures the original design for Nordic weapons. I feel as if the hilt should be a little thicker, but that just might be because of the angle of the image.
That looks great and I love the notch in the blade. Those kinds of details add a lot of personality.
But I do have a couple of notes. The details or engravings have a pixelated look. I'm not sure if you got them from a reference picture, but remember that you can always scale an image down but never up. You could re-touch them by hand in photoshop, but finding a new ref pic might be faster. And your handle is mirrored which is a problem for weapons because they are literally in the face of the player when equipped. Wrap the UV the full circumference and put your seam in the front (away from the player in first person).
Other than that, It is an awesome sword and I can't wait to bury it in some monsters face.
Another trick you can use, if you don't want to use up anymore of your UV template is take the faces on one side of the handle and shift rotate them 180 degrees to make the other side. That way you are repeating the texture instead of mirroring it.
That dark (west gash/bittercoast) wood staff could be a good replacement for the dragonheaded staffs, as we're avoiding the dragon motiffs for obvious reasons.
plasmax, hardly what I can teach you, because I'm still learning myself and my process is similar to the experiment. The only thing that can differ, that's what I bake maps in zbrush. everything else is standard
I really love all those. You managed to make them look very ornate and decorative, and yet they still look reasonably functional (unlike most fantasy weapons). Keep it up! Oh, and I love to imagine how would those orcish bolts go with the armour from my concept :D
DragomirI've seen your Concepts and i like it. I think if a little Change colors and add something where the ornament, it will look together not bad :)
I have an idea for a Daedric weapon, a blade with a repeating concave loop, like an infinity symbol (∞) but with loops pinched to a point similar to a diamond while remaining circular overlapping and diminishing in scale as the pattern reaches point of the blade, and a hilt gaurd that looks like two pincers. I would try to create this and much more except I lack the tools to do so, and correct me if I misunderstood the title of this thread epic weapons, I am not sure if this implies new epic weapons or pre existing ones from Morrowind. The weapons created so far look great!
Nice work Lavarg, I like the micro and macro-level detail you put into the textures. One comment I would have is the textures appear a little dark in some spots; maybe lessen the multiplies/shadows on some of the grooves and darker spots. (Or it could be my monitor here at work, it has kinda high contrast I've noticed, haha). Either way, nice job!
Death - This thread is created for each weapon, which I take to do, even if it's not epic. in order not to create a lot of individual topics. As far as I know, daedric weapons already doing Plamax. but if you have interesting ideas, I advise you to do sketches, even if you paint is not very good
jobe wan kenobe - thank you
Ashking Wulfhart - thanks. Skills - very modest, I'm just trying to make as I like. sometimes it turns :)
JorgenGorgen - Thanks, but I do not speak English :)
Whizafriz - Yes, the texture is really dark. I had a lot of options textures, but that option seemed more interesting. Besides, I do not have the opportunity to see it in Creation Engine. and in different 3D editor it looks differently

It is looking great! Probably imbalanced in weight, but very sleek and impressive.

Absolutely loving the look!

Ashking Wulfharth you're right about everything, relative to the handle, was still an variant :

Keep up the good work!

Your weapon models are excellent, I love the detail you put into them!
MrAryon - tnx
Ashking Wulfharth - tnx, on axe :)
axe and claymore almost completed

axe: https://sketchfab.com/show/91dab7693a034de2863ec4760c9ed610
the quality of the axe there is ideal, with some improvements to specular your weapons will be a really nice addition
wooden staff:
texture maybe is a bit dark , but I liked this option

guys, need your opinion (the difference is not big, but I like option 2)
If i understand correctly how these additional badass blades should work on the spear - i think 2nd version is the best and really makes sense.
That dark (west gash/bittercoast) wood staff could be a good replacement for the dragonheaded staffs, as we're avoiding the dragon motiffs for obvious reasons.
also: option 2 i think its best
Thanks guys.

I think I could learn a thing or two from you :) what's your weapon creation process like?
plasmax, hardly what I can teach you, because I'm still learning myself and my process is similar to the experiment.

You bake maps in zbrush? How do you avoid the smooth uvs-warping problem?
plasmax If I understand the question, here are my settings:
as well as need a regular grid as possible without triangles and chamfers. and should not be stretched squares.
I tried Xnormal, but it seemed to me then these maps is difficult to use in texturing. possible by the fact . that i little worked in this
I understand what you mean. I think I can avoid stretching if I import a pre-subdivided mesh and then divide with smt off. Need to test tonight :)
You can also use the "crease" instead of "chamfer" before Divide, but it does not always work
I think the orcish arrows could be thinner. Except that, superb work there :)
These are bolts though, not arrows. For crossbows, not bows. Shorter and thicker are fine for that ;)
Lavarg i love ur weapons:) U really save morrowind style. And I think this is better way than change everything :)
spear: not too dark?

That looks very cool. Great job.
looks perfect
Ashking Wulfhart, no1 - thanks
my attempt to recreate a chrysamere using some ideas Saivryn and Iniquity.
I do not know how this design turned out well...

You could not have done a better job ;)
nice job there Lavarg, this sure is worthy of going into skywind :)
btw can you send everything you made so far to happychappy, so that he can get them ingame? :)
thanks for comments
DaedricLord, i'll try to do so in the near future.
eloth, first I need to finish some weapon texture. then I will contact happychappy.

Lavarg that looks awesome! Keep up the great work :)
Dayum!!! You've got some serious skills.
Really liking these, Lavarg's Chrysamere in particular.
Just wanted to post something for everyone making swords to use for further reference, and since I'm a history and martial arts dork:
