This is a concept sketch for a dwemer armor/environmental suit. I was wondering how the dwemer/dwarven armor could be updated and then I saw some of the clothing concepts that Dragomir did for protective gear against the ash storms. It then made sense to me that the dwemer would construct a protective suit to ward against the elements while conducting their research or during excavations. I tried to show the different layers of the protective suit in cutaway sections. Let me know what you guys think!

I don't think a pauldron that size makes much sense in regards to protection. I also think we should definitely stray from Morrowind's original look for armor anyway (it just wasn't to my taste). I love the fact that you did not include ugly, clunky ankles like vanilla Skyrim though. The art is well done, though
Is this light armor? Because that would explain a lot.
Here's what I think: If this is heavy armor:
-Wide, manly shoulders and upper body
-full protection. No need for empty spots
- pauldrons that serve to protect from ash
If this is light armor:
-It's pretty much alright if it's light, just lacking of full cover
Regardless of both of those things:
- Use of Dwemer purple. These are proud people and would love to show off
- Fewer/no buttons
- A less cephalapod-like helm. This isn't Telvanni territory
What will be really nice, relevant to Dwemer armor : diversity.
Even some solitary pieces, that will be different : chainmails, loricas, some crude pieces made by non-dwemers from dwemer junk, could significantly make all set more interesting.
Eh, less sci-fi and fatter. like the aboveposter said make it light or heavy. also, i dont care for the asymmetical stuff or the MASSIVE shoulder pieces from the original.
more like:
but fatter and more dwermer, non-frilly shapes
i have to agree with sasquatch
There are already two concepts made for this armour... One is Centific Graphics:
And we're most likely going with this. As for light/heavy armour thing it depends much more on the material than coverage.
I really think we should push the idea that the Armour is just a rag tag collection of dwemer parts strung together. I like the one above but think the helm and boots need to be broken up a touch into more pieces.
the kinda look like each other this is the armor that is made of dwemer robot junk ? like morrowind dwemer armor was ?
also the helmet not to be a hater but the look wierd the dont realy look that dwemer like asuming that the skywind dwemer robot wil look the same as skyrim
It won't look the same no1, at least it doesn't seem so since people are donating new models. And yeah, this one is a rag tag collection of Dwemer junk, but put together by pretty rich people, so the quality of craft is rather high. The helmet is from Sphere centurion, the legs are probably arms of some other. We'll probably have to decimate the centurion model when we get one and put it together into this kind of armour.
I like the concept that Dragomir posted. Even though the helmet is made of centurion sphere head, I still think it looks bad. But it does make it looks alien, like Morrowind should look, so in any case it fits that description
Very good designs. Just want it more practical (neck protection for example, less prominent elements)

Neck protection, especially of this kind is the opposite of practical. Please leave the "practical" part to me, I worn and fought in all kinds of armour IRL. Well maybe not all, but quite a few.
Wouldn't strung together dwemer armor be made by scavengers and treasure hunters and so be quite rugged. As rich people would either leave the armor in its historical state(which means it wouldn't be made of parts) or be re-forged into a heavy plate armor.
> opposite of practical.
why?
at least this prominent shoulders and helm looks weird.
Because it's stiff, gets before the face, you'd have limited head movement. And it stays prominent. First, it's a cultural thing they do for decoration, secondly it's made of centurion pieces, so they had less control over the shape.

Thing is, if you re-forge Dwemer brass without using (lost) Dwemer techniques, the metal loses its strength and gets brittle. So they make it of parts. As for scavengers - I thought about that, but we need to look into the game. Dwemer armour is not worn by scavengers, mostly by nobles and their guards, probably made before the Empire put a boycott on the Dwemer artifacts. And the scavengers strong enough to loot Dwemer ruins would know that selling this stuff to the rich will make them more coin anyways.

= not sure that some fashion is better than some arrow in the chest or neck (in society with crossbows).
Hovewer, it's better just have many variants.
One thing people who don't do fighting don't get is that lack of mobility kills you much sooner than lack of protection. For example closed helmets were never used in melee on foot. What good is it that you have a protected face, if you don't see a guy next to you putting a dagger in the seam on your side?
Another thing is that nobility is all about fashion. They don't fight big battles all the time in those armours, they go to councils and parades in those. They need to be comfortable and look nice. Anyway, it's completely futile to design that armour any further before we get the final models of all Dwemer automatons.
I agree with drago, though I also like this helmet, and the sphere centurion's head wont look like that. so perhaps the nobility that made the armor didn't simply use scrap animunculi parts exclusively, but take the pieces and re-shape them to look more, you know, noble. The set is anyways of fine craftsmanship, not just made by some adventurer.
So do you treat it like all this armor is'nt original? Is it crafted by some smugglers from pieces of animalcules?
hmm? It is crafted and commisioned by the nobility of morrowind, not the original dwemer, or smugglers and scavengers. So it is made of animunculi, yes, though the craftsmanship is above the grade of a scavenger
In case it was not clear, my concept was intended to be symmetrical, I just did not use symmetry on the concept in order to show what would be beneath parts of the equipment.

That can be some implausible - masters, who cosplays their slaves.
Really want more to see real-battle armor then.

However this is no very constructive. So i'll be quiet.
Dunmer are reknown for wearing what they kill. Why would animunculi be an exception?
Oh. I misunderstanded this first as NOBILITY_OF_DWEMERS.
Nah, Dwemer nobles worn this:

I was thinking, if Dumac were depicted perhaps he would have worn a headress similar to dagoth ur, but with an open face, or at least ash vampire.
There is some variety. This one is the original Dwemer armor, made by the Dwemer themselves and then there is the scavenger armor (or whatever you want to call it), which is build out of random Dwemer loot.
Also, instead of having 2 posts right after each other, please just use the "edit" button on the buttom of your previous post and add whatever you wanted to add to your previous post ;)
Cheers
Not sure if it's worth wasting your fingers on this Cent... There's no way we're making 7 different dwemer armours.
Good evening everyone, I reply to this topic is not used for some time as a result of certain developments, following the morrowind nexus page I noticed two Dwemer armor concept proposed by the user MacKom, medium and heavy armor derived from Dwemer animunculi manufactured by Hlaalu workers and Redoran

Wow that is a pretty impressive concept! Personally I like the medium armor the best, it seems to be well put together. As for the heavy armor it is also well done, however, I am personally not a fan of the cloth around the neck.
Also I like very much the medium armor and take the opportunity to do "advertising" the user creator of the concept as it is a big fan of Skywind project.
I have some questions:1) It was already decided how they will be the animunculi Dwemer? will the new models or old ones used instead of skyrim? 2) If you were to choose to scavenged armor, you will find in the Dwemer ruins or have to carry the raw materials from their workers Hlaalu and Redoran? 3) There will be opportunities to also find a real Dwemer armor?
I end by saying that the Dwemer armor is one of my favorites and I'm really curious to see how it will be on Skywind
Please can you do dwemer armor based on this concept? Original design was silly, in Oblivion it was made great: exotic and practical at the same time.
