What do u think about this idea? Some of them are quite nice. Sth similar like paintings in Oblivon. I agree that they doesn't fit to dunmer culture but they could appear in imperials cities or in places where foreigners live. It is cool to use them and don't let them go to wasted.
i could have a look into this
i could have a look into this for you im presuming small cracks and chips and a general method of softening down the images to look hand painted and old is that what were going for grumpy
Tapestries wouldn't be too
Tapestries wouldn't be too difficult: One easy way I see of doing it would be to filter the image you want to whatever effect you want, then reduce it's opacity to say 50% (maybe a little higher). Have a blank tapestry texture to layer them over, merge layers, and boom, magic Photoshoop tapestries.
Yeah if somebody could set up
Yeah if somebody could set up a Photoshop template.
Hell, I could maybe take a
Hell, I could maybe take a whack at it if someone could provide a texture or textures to work from.
Most concepts wont look right
Most concepts wont look right transferred to tapestries without much modification. Many of them could be made fairly easily into some accurate looking murals though. Vanilla only offers several versions, so additional mural images would be nice. The number of painting is obviously also extremely limited and would be the easiest in game use for concept art.
If a normal map that looked
If a normal map that looked like brush strokes was made, with like a specularity map or something for reflectivity(?)(I'm not entirely sure how materials are rendered in the CK), the image itself might not have to be altered very much to be made to look like a painting. Check out how they did it in Mirrors Edge
(Sorry, that's the best screenshot I could find that had a painting in it)
Skywind paintings would look pretty ballin' in picture frames of some sort, which could totally be reused for Skyblivion as well because Oblivion had hella paintings in it. (Not hella as in quality, but quantity. The paintings were just screenshots with filters.)
They could be implemented
They could be implemented into the loading screens like they are in Morrowind couldn't they?
Maybe some of them will be
Maybe some of them will be good for murals but almost all of them are just too different compare to vanilla. They simply doesn't fit if they aren't heavy modified. It is completely different style (It should be B&W, consist of shapes and lines without gradients etc.). But if someone is volunteer to do that I'm not opposed. In the case of tapestry we have a bit more freedom but most of concepts are oriented horizontally, not vertical, but I don't see problem with that, we can create wider version :) Again we need to limit the color palette and play with filters to fit them to the rest. Paintings are just the easiest and I think we have enough room for that like:
- Vivec foreign quarter
- Wolverine Hall, Ebonheart, Buckmoth Legion Fort, Moonmoth Legion Fort
- Caldera
- Dagon Fel
- Seyda Neen
- Gnisis
- Pelagiad
- (places where some imperials live like for example Caius Cosades' House)
Of course all in adequate places (not in jail or in guard rooms but in officers rooms or main halls). In that case it could be even 20↑ unique places to put paintings.
@discoccult Good idea, specular map is good enough.

Also there is nothing to stop us from making tapestries with them. We will have to design horizontal versions for a lot of them, but i think we can make it work.
Ill actually start work on getting the models soon as this has been on my mind for a while.
I'd like for somebody to come up with a nice technique to make pictures look like tapestries please?
