Article a bit misleading?

Submitted by Mace on

Was reading an article posted today on Rock, Paper Shutgun about Skywind, which is nice, because publicity is great! But one thing bugged me a bit:

"It of course remains to be seen whether they can port over every mechanic from Bethesda’s most beloved Elder Scrolls game"

I'm not sure if this is a problem, and I take that the author has worked alone on this article. But I've seen people get annoyed when newcomers ask if we're doing a total conversion of Morrowind, expecting just that, and I'm sure more will come around if that's the word that's spreading through news sites.

EDIT: Doh, forgot the article link!

Meh, there's a distinction to be had between "can" or "will". It's awfully nit-picky to read farther than what the journalist asked - can we incorporate every mechanic from Morrowind? Yes we probably can, but it also presents some issues like balance, extra work and if the mechanic is really worth it in the end. The question isn't unfair to ask, but the answer is a bit more complex than a simple yes or no. I'm happy we're getting some publicity!

I'm happy as well! No doubt about it :) I might have interpreted the article a bit wrong, I took it to mean that we were recreating Morrowind with it's combat, inventory and so on, and not Skyrims. When I read the sentence again I'm not sure why. I was a bit too fast on the trigger here. Sorry about that!

Maybe a public statement of our own?  it could be added to the homepage, put on youtube, or sent to an online news source for gamers.  Development videos are one thing, but a statement from the devs. would help.
