Can't enter Caius Cosades house (black screen)

I recently reached level 23 and have been spending my time running around morrowind doing quests for the marog tong and telvanni houses. I also completed the first two quests in Mournhold. I decided to continue the main quest and went to fetch the dwemer box for the man in the fighters guild (very early in the main quest). When I went back to Caius' house I clicked on the door to enter and as usual the screen switched to the loading screen with the door sounds, the screen goes black and I hear the door shut (this is usual)... but nothing happens after that. The screen doesn't come back.

Normally The screen stays black for a few seconds then I see the interior of the building.

I tested other houses and I can successfully enter and exit them as usual. Is there a way I can teleport Casius to myself outside his house? Any idea what could be causing this glitch?

As a side note to this black screen issue, I also get black screens when I use the COC command in the console - i.e. COC Balmora. This may be related.

I believe this is the "Nvida Black Screen Bug" There are four mods available for this on Nexus. This is the most recent I have seen: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13632

Tried all the black screen bug fixes (at the same time and one at a time) with no luck. My oblivion game wouldn't start up at all with the one for natural interiors. Any way I can teleport Caius to me outside of his home?

Make sure you have installed the Additional Support Files. That should not have any effect, but there are some updated meshes by Eloth. Have you installed any of the texture and/or mesh replacers? Moving Caius would not be very practical, because he would almost certainly turn right around and walk back home. You'd have to move him in the CS. This is what I would suggest in the following order. If any of these solves the problem, then stop. 1. Make sure Additional Support Files are installed. 2. Deactivate everything except Oblivion.esm and Morrowind_ob.esm 3. Reinstall the Complete Installation --> After you do #3, I believe you have to reinstall support files (again) afterwards 4. Try one of the Texture/mesh replacers

I have the additional support files (downloaded and tried again today just in case), v25 plus all required downloads with it, hashmi's Hi-Rez texture pack , have been using them since they came out, and tried deactivating all mods again to see if any of them are causing it, all with no luck. Like I said before it only happens in caius' house, no other home or building. The one thing I haven't tried yet is reinstalling the complete installation, but that's next. It may take me a little while to get to it.. when I do i'll let you know. Just wanted to let you know I haven't given up on this or anything if you don't hear from me for a few days or couple of weeks on this!

I have just done a complete reinstall of the morroblivion files plus the extra support files. Unfortunately this didn't work either. What in the world could be in caius' house that my game doesn't like? The only other thing I could think of that might affect it is that I have cobl installed, however I have had that mod since I began morroblivion and didn't have problems with it earlier. Could it have something to do with leveling up? I had leveled up since the last time I entered his house.

Please start a new game and see if you can get into his house. If this does work, then it is something in your save; I know that persistent references, or the lack of them, can cause CTD's. If this does work, then I'll make a patch with Caius up on his roof.

Oh, good idea! I feel stupid for not thinking of it :O

I started a new game and can indeed enter caius' house successfully. I guess it is in my save game.

I have sent you a PM with a patch that puts Caius on the Rooftop so you don't have to start a new game. Check your messages.
