Imperial Legion Questline

Submitted by Bomb Bloke on

So I played right through all Imperial quests in v32... Here are some issues I encountered.

* Widow Vabdas' Deed - You are sent to investigate a cave with a corpse. The ghost of the victim, Mansilamat Vabdas, will attempt to pickup Lugrub's Axe (the murder weapon you need to retrieve) if the other ghost in the cavern isn't killed in time. Solutions might be to remove the other ghost or arm him with some other weapon.

* Dwemer Artifacts at Drinar Varyon's Place - Speaking to the quest giver (Imsin the Dreamer) about the smuggler again gave an "oh, you killed him?" message and ended the quest. Drinar was still in fact alive and well, though it may be worth noting that I'd already killed the (supposedly unrelated) Vorar Helas as part of another quest.

* Rescue Jocien Ancois - He's kidnapped by women who'll trade him for a "better man". The chosen replacement, Assaba-Bentus, followed me to the destination yurt, the quest/dialog updated correctly to reflect he'd arrived, but... he kept following me. Dialog did allow me to tell him to wait (which achieved nothing), telling him to follow again removed the option to ask him to stay put. Eventually after I ran around in the yurt for a while he got the message and left me alone.

* Courtesy - You are sent to match a dunmer in a match of riddles, though it's suggested you bug Codus Callonus (the bookseller in Ald'ruhn) for the "red book of riddles" first. Per UESP, the book is not required if your int score is above 50 (which mine is), but not knowing this I went off to get it. However Codus told me he'd already given it to me - didn't seem to be anywhere in his inventory, nor could I buy it from him.

* Saprius Entius - You're sent to escort a murderer back to Ebonheart. Although he's gone into hiding and you're supposed to do some talking around to find out where, the quest marker points straight at him from the word go. Just seems a bit odd considering he's a man who doesn't want to be found.

* Sorkvild the Raven - Talking to the quest giver (Radd Hard-Heart) about the quest again immediately after accepting it results in instant completetion, regardless of whether you've killed the target or not.

* Reaching the rank of "Knight Protector" should grant you Templar pauldrons and boots. While obviously there are no pauldrons in Oblivion, the boots aren't forthcoming either.

* Speaking of armour, the Imperial Studded Leather Cuirass seems unaffected by physics, and hangs in the air if dropped.

* The inhabitants of Hawkmoth Legion Garrison tend to use the beds in the prison area to sleep. If you enter the area at night, odds are half the traders and guards will've locked themselves in the cells! This makes it a little difficult to find Frald the White, who looks happens to look exactly like a prisoner when he removes his armour to sleep.

* None of Varus Vantinius' quests have waypoint markers. They don't strictly need them, but it seems a bit odd that they're missing.

* Abanabi, visited during the Lord's Mail quest, has major collision faults in one of its chambers. It's quite difficult to get through the area and back without falling through the floor.

When you complete this quest, Varus will refuse to advance you during the same conversation if asked, and won't offer to duel you because you're of insufficient rank. If you stop talking to him, you get promoted on the spot anyway.

* Finally, defeating Varus to become head of the legion does not update the "Imperial Legion" quest which keeps track of your rank, so it apparently remains forever unfinished.

Please, forgive the thread necromancy I'm about to commit.

I'm playing on the latest version of Morroblivion, and thus far, it's been great! However, I too have run into an issue with the Imperial Legion quest line.

On the quest "Imperial Legion: Rescue Madura Seran", I find myself unable to complete it. The Morrowind Strategy Guide says that if his disposition towards me is  high enough, I can give Abassel a ransom and he'll let Madura go. I raised his disposition and was unable to give him the ransom; the topic wasn't even there. So then I resort to violence and kill Abassel and tell Madura to follow me to Ald Velothi. Once there, I get an update telling me to go back to Gnisis and report to General Darius. However, when I do, no matter what topic I talk to him about, he won't acknowledge that I've brought Madura to safety and thus, the quest can't be finished.

Also, when Madura is following you, if you just quick travel to Ald Velothi, the game believes that she has been brought back safely.

By the way, Abassel and Madura are located at Aidanat Camp on the inside of the tent.

I hope the information provided is enough to fix the bug. And again, please forgive my thread necromancy.
