When killed, Kagoutis go ballistic.

Submitted by The Frederick on

It's happened all four times I've killed one, so I suspect it's the creature specifically.

With three of them, when they were were killed, their corpses were quickly dragged away to another point by the game. The other Kagouti fell through and then got stuck in the bottom of a bridge, and ended up being stretched between the bridge and the ground of the cayon below.

Similar has happened to me in Vanilla Oblivion aswell. NPC and Monsters are sometimes dragged to otherside of Cyrodiil or they are just launched to atmosphere when killed. I dont think its Morroblivion bug, morelike Oblivions system bug.

It's oblivion playing tricks on us for sure.

I thought I'd look into it anyways.

So i armed my self with a staff of greater areafireball, up'd the EnStaffFireDamageAreaGreater magnitude to 500 firedamage and headed to the bridge with the Kagouti.

It is the one in cell -17,20 I take it.

I shot the kagouti repeatedly alive and dead, but unfortunately the behaviour described in the first post failed to materialise for me .

However I came across something weird. The explosions from my staff, threw the Katgouti up in the air and they stayed there. One on top of the other, as if they were somehow stacked onto invisible shelfs.

Looked really funny and I had to take pictures :-)

So I had to have a look in nifscope and see what was going on.

I guess, if it doesn't bother anyone, it doesn't bother anyone. I mean, this could very well be an intentional feature, what do I know.

But I tried to fix it anyways.

 Here's the nifscope pics.

That top one is the original katgouti skeleton as it comes with morroblivion.

As you can see, the alternative one on the bottom pcture has it's BSBound box somewhat reduced.

If someone wants it, here is the alternative skeleton with the box reduced.  Download

As far as I know ((and I could be wrong) but BS bounds only have a part to play while the creature is alive and conscious. When killed or knocked out ... BSBounds are ignored and the Ragdoll (the green capsules) take over.

The Ragdoll has problems (a ball for the the entire torso) which can cause erratic behaviour ... but then its rather difficult to make a proper Ragdoll for non-humanoid creatures.

Well Hashmi1, that may well be the case. :-)

I could easely be wrong about the impact of having a big BSBound box

But I feel like I should explain a little bit further why I've taken a particular interest in the size of the kagouti BSBound box.

What I saw when I gave the kagouties the fireball treatment triggered my curiousity, so when I saw the mighty BSBound box  around it's skeleton, I figured, what the heck, I'm going to downsize it a bit and see what happens.

As a movie or two says more than a thousand words, it's time to show what happened.

If the size of the BSBound box is irrelevant, then nothing would happen..

please just watch this, it's me powerambushing :8-) the kagouties over and over!

this is the ordinary kagouti skeleton that comes with Morroblivion, big box, and acts funny. http://youtu.be/Gp-DNWBlwdo

This is the kagout skeleton where I modified the  BSBound box, small box, acts less funny. http://youtu.be/3O0q2Swy0Nw

I may ofcourse be wrong but i think the differnces in what is shown on these two videos indicates that the size of the BSBound box sometimes plays a part and makes a difference.

Looks like your onto something with the BSBound box thing.

Could be, but it probably needs a few more tests; I've seen Kagouti act comparatively normal when killed sometimes, and then other times they go berserk.

Actually, I think the last time I played, I saw a Kagouti walking INTO a rock formation, die, and it's limbs were sticking out of the rock and convulsing. That's not right, is it?

Kagouti's are fixed in v36, if someone still finds any problems feel free to re-open this,
