TES4Edit cleaning of Morrowind_ob.esm

Submitted by anithinks on

This is for the latest version of Morroblivion (v 039). Wrye bash pops up an eror everytime it does anything (build bashed patch, update NPC levels etc.) with Morrowind_ob.esm. The fix is simple. Here is the offending part, per TES4Edit:

[00:00] Checking for Errors in [01] Morrowind_ob.esm
[00:00]       DATA - IDLE animation -> [00F8B7DF] <Error: Could not be resolved>
[00:00]     Above errors were found in :IdleObjectsIdledrum [ANIO:01F8B823]
[00:00]   Above errors were found in :GRUP Top "ANIO"
[04:29] Above errors were found in :[01] Morrowind_ob.esm

The fix is simple, just open 01F8B823 in TES4Edit's search box, and change idle animation "00F8B7DF" to "01F8B7DF". It is the animation for "PlayDrum".

Also, TEs4Edit gives the following while cleaning for UDRs and ITMs:

[Removing "Identical to Master" records done]  Processed Records: 429221 Removed Records: 380 Elapsed Time: 00:00
[Undeleting and Disabling References done]  Processed Records: 428841 Undeleted Records: 0 Elapsed Time: 00:13

I am using TES4Edit v 3.0.3, which could be different than what you are using David. The previous versions do not give the same results while cleaning.

I do not get this error. If you think that something should be fixed, then please, by all means, fix it. If you wait for me to fix it for you, then that may be a very long wait, because I'm done. As I have said, I will continue to assemble the Master, but I am no longer actively working on this project.

Not sure why you don't get this error - iceburg333 seemed to get this error too, so I am sure this is not my setup alone.

It's a simple fix - and I've already listed the steps. If anyone else gets this error, they can fix it as well using the steps I listed above.

I am not waiting for you to fix it - but it seems it should take less than a minute to fix this in the master permanently while assembling the master. Doesn't require you to make grand sweeping changes either! Could you atleast open the Morrowind_ob.esm file in TES4Edit, and search for 01F8B823 in TES4Edit's search box to see what it says? If not you, who shold be contacted to make a change in the master?

How about the TES4Edit cleaning? I would think it useful to clean the mod while assembling the master as well - do you disagree?

We are all grateful for your efforts in compiling Morroblivion, so I am not complaining or trying to be a pain. :) But the master needs to be cleaned at the source to really fix it properly. Try using the latest version of TES4Edit to make sure you see consistent results.

Yes, I agree with everything you say. I think you are misunderstanding my point. I do not mean to imply that anything is a pain, or that this is a huge amount of work. I just meant exactly what I said: I am no longer working on this project. I am staying on to assemble the Master because I know that this is a very small site, and that there simply isn't anybody else to do it. Why are you reluctant to make this fix yourself? This project needs people that are willing to do the work.

I am not sure I understand David.

I've already made the fix at my end here, and also cleaned the master file at my end. I am not shirking work, but of course, I cannot do  the cleaning for everyone else - they'll have to go through the process at their end. Many will not, and then complain about one thing or another in this forum, much to your added frustration.

For example, the ANIO error will prevent TES4Gecko to merge any mod that has Morrowind_ob.esm as master (essentially, all Morroblivion mods). Wrye Bash will also throw up a fuss everytime one tries to relevel NPCs or build a bashed patch.

And all this cleaning and fixing at my (and everybody else's) end is for nought everytime a new version is released, as I'll have to redo this. Therefore, the best way to really fix this would be at the source, which is being compiled by you. Not sure why this is unclear?

Also, once you clean it and fix the ANIO issue, you won't have to do that again. So it's a one-time thing. If not you, who would be able to do this? I certainly can't as I have neither your skill set to create and maintain Morroblivion's master, nor the access to it.

I do not get an error because there is no error. When I go to the reference you have indicated, it is pointing to the proper ID. Presumably this is NOT going to cause the fatal errors you describe when merging with Tes4Gecko, because that is what I use to assemble the Master. I have no idea what to tell you, except that I check for errors with Tes4edit and the CS before release. I really don't want to keep going back and forth with you on this.
