ITS NOT OUT YET. Maybe its possibly when its out. But thats not soon

When it comes out i dont think morrowind will be hard to put on skyrim since it is already done for oblivion however I could be wrong. What would be really cool is both morrowind and oblivion on skyrim. ;)

OK I'm just going to put this to bed right now.

1) Skyrim will NOT use the Gamebryo Engine, which is very, very old at this point.  Morroblivion is possible in part because both Oblivion and Morrowind use the Gamebryo engine (albeit different versions) so things can be converted (although with some difficulty).

2) Skyrim will be using Bethesda's internally developed Creation Engine and we have no way of knowing if they plan on releasing a construction set with Skyrim.

Simple as that.  It's the same reason why you never saw Daggerfall ported to the Morrowind engine - it's just not feasible.  Rather, the whole game would have to be recreated from scratch with the new construction set.

Its a new engine but word is that its based around gamebryo quite a bit ... so I dont know, an auto port like morroblivion might still be  possible ... (and a manual port will almost certainly be possible ... just time consuming). BUT first lets wait for skyrim to even get released :p

If it can happen it would be epic.

I've been around here a while and wanted to help with Morroblivion, but I never could because I didn't have the proper skillset and now its to late, however when skyrim comes out I'll been in my programmers mindset. So I offer my services to anyone interested.

Morrobliviskyrim has the potential to be exponentially better than Morroblivion

Actually, it was announced that the Creation Engine toolset will be availible upon release, awhile back.  Don't remember where, though.

@renagademuffin

I'm not saying that I don't believe you, but if you find that link, could you post it? Thanks! I would be interested in reading that article.

Thanks renagademuffin! I read it, and it looks like Bethesda is a cool company after all. Actually, I would have been a little surprised if they did not release a construction set with it. It just doesn't seem like them.

If what I understood correctly the new engine is going to be called Creation engine, and the new CS Creation Kit!

Lets play the game and see if its good. Who knows, it might be just as good as Morrowind was! Better then Oblivion I hope anyway :/

Sounds good to me! Though it will be a lot of work, but I'm sure it will get started. We can hope!

Yeah, Brown Hood, I agree with pretty much everything you said. We'll just have to wait and see after Skyrim comes out.

"Morrosky"... has a nice ring to it.

5. they say it will be easyer to get mods to xbox.

Yeah, I've heard Bethesda was thinking about getting mods to consoles. Any more news on this? I know a lot more people would play mods if they could play them on their console.

Actually we had a thread aobut this somewhere but we are not a very strict forum, so whatever.

However if we are to do such a thing, we are going to need a serious, but I mean serious software writer. It was Galadrielle's converter which made Morroblivion possible. And that had chance only because Oblivion and Morrowind had the same game engines, only diferent versions. Skyrim's engine is made from scratch. If we can produce a new converter, only then we may have a little chance of doing this.

Still, this doesn't change the fact that it would be awesome, seriously awesome! Of course we are also lucky to have Skyrim Cyrodiil, and Morrowind as neighbours too :D

think about it.

1. there will already be some of the armor for it in it.

2. flying enamies are in it.

3. better grafics.

4. snow for blood moon.

5. they say it will be easyer to get mods to xbox.

6. better ai.

7. quick build times, most of you have been working on morroblivion for a good amount of time now so it will be tons easyer for you to build it.

8. face paints and scars

9. worrosky would be a ton more like a world and less like a strang game, with end kills and better invirments

please post you thoughts/ideas and concerns, and nothing of topic please, just thoughts.

pluss this post might be better shooted for some were else, if so please move it.

ps. please don't corect my spelling unless it is realy bad

----

there are a few things i will say, in a nother number list, alwase easy

1. the only way a company will do any thing for there product is if there is want for it, so the best way for us to help them make it easy to program and or export to xbox is for us to get on there main forum site and talk about it as mutch as we can.

2. to get the map of marrowind over to it might just be as simple as getting a level map, the textur that makes the ground of marrowind.

3. to get the objects over we might have to fined a way to convert the meshes back to a 3ds, or what ever format, if this hasn't already been down that is.

4. if we do get the meshes it would be great if we made them better, because we don't want to play the new game with old grafics, and then we also might want to think about changing some of the textures of objects so it doesn't look so funcy

remember if we wanted to play marrowind we would, but we aren't trying just to make the exact marrowind we are trying to make the exact marrowind but better, mutch better.

Transfering Oblivion to Skyrim might be impossible since they are different engines. Maybe if they were very similar engines and he had a person as good with software as Galadrielle than we could do it.

I don't think it's going to be a vastly new and different engine. They're still going to be using the .nif format.

Porting Oblivion content to Skyrim is EASY!

It will be done in a few months time, maybe even less.

Morroblivion will follow.

Skyrim:

1. Runs on the exact same Game Engine

2. Uses the same file types .NIF .DDS .MP3 .LIP

3. Uses the same .ESM and .ESP data files

The new Skyrim files will be improved over Oblivion

but can be ported to the new standard.

That is a blantant lie. It doesn't use the exact same engine. Oblivion used Gamebryo and since Oblivion Bethesda made their own engine called the Creation engine. Where is your proof that Skyrim uses ESMs and ESPs?

You can call my statement how you fancy. Going in discusion about it is pointless. You see it as a box I see ducktape.

Gamebryo is no box, its ducktape. Bethesda created the box with there own cardboard after sticking it all together with Gamebryo ducktape.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jDn-K-Bmhk&feature=player_detailpage#t=91s

They rewrote the cardboard parts of the box.

Renderer
Shadows
Artificial inteligence
User interface
Scripting
Etc.

I guess there entiteled to call the box they created the Creation Engine.
On the other hand I still see Gamebryo ducktape and the Oblivion foundation.

NOTE:
I do not see the Gamebryo Engine as a negative thing, like most people do.
It is what it is, and Bethesda uses it just how they need to use it.

You seem to think the Creation engine is just the Gambryo engine havily modified but I have news for you, it is a completely different engine that has no Gamebryo "ducktape" in it.

Creation enigne still uses NIF files:

Todd Howard
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/115/1158776p1.html

If you looked quickly at our editor, it behaves similar to our old ones; it just does a lot more, and does some old things in better ways. But we don't change things just to change them. We still use the nif file format, because it worked fine for what we're doing and our modders know it well. We still use some middleware that we like, such as Havok.

That doesn't mean that they edited the Gamebryo engine. Since the company that made Gamebryo is dead they can use NIF files but SB said that it was the exact same engine and then he changed his stance to, "they changed a bit but it's still Gamebryo" and both of them are incorrect.

There seems to be some confusion ... lets differentiate between the Oblivion-Engine and Gamebryo.

Gamebryo isn't a complete game engine ... its just a renderer. Think of it as a brick in a wall.

The Oblivion-Engine includes:

- a heavily re-wrtitten version of Gamebryo's renderer.
- several other licensed 'parts' like Havok, Speedtree and Facegen.
- and several home-made 'parts' for things Scriptingt, AI, Path-Finding, Quests etc. etc.

The Creation Engine has definately scrapped anything about the original Gamebryo that still remained, alongwith Speedtree and Facegen.

But all of Bethesda's own code should not have been scrapped IMHO. Comapnies don't usually throw away years of their own work and start from scratch ... instead they improve on old code and evolve new engine from old ones (examples include ID-Tech, Unreal, Crytech, Source etc.).

And I think thats exactly what Bethesda's has done with the Creation Engine ... its an evolved form of Oblivion's engine and not something made from scratch.

It's hardly "the exact same Game Engine"(unedited quote) though and NIFs are part of Gamebryo and they are very important to Morroblivion and we need them to make Morroblivirim. Thankfully since the company that made Gamebryo don't exist anymore Bethesda could continue useing NIFs.

We all think deferent about it and that’s fine.

Instead of making SkyBlivion and then SkyWind we should just port Morroblivion. MorrObliviRim.

It’s not a good plan to start over from scratch.

Well, MorrObliviRim is the best I can think of. And it follows the same rules as MorrOblivion in the way that the ported game/games come first. SkyBlivion would be porting Skyrim to Oblivion which we will never do.

I will buy Skyrim on day 1 no matter what >>> PC-USER

while cool sounding it may not work

diffrent engine, this means that everything is handled diffrently, scripts etc, there would be no straigh up port for anything, meshes and collision would have to be redone, since it probably does not use havok.

an acutal port needs to be worked on for blender before anything can be made.lets just wait and see

They are still using Havoc....just a completely different version.

The only way Morroskrim would be possible is if someone like Galadrielle wrote another converter, and I don't think that's very likely. I hope it happens, though.

So my first post on these forums begins in a debate thread.  Fun! Hi All! Long time lurker, long time fan, long time player.  :)

So, to the topic at hand... ignoring the game engine aspect... couple things to keep in mind... Skyrim takes place _200_ years after oblivion, the empire has fallen apart, the volcano blew up, and a few other minor things. :s

BUT....

I duz haz me an idear! ;)

Iaskd Onra on his TesNexus: Tamriel Heightmaps if he'd add in the 'book correct' size of Cyrodiil... Said he was done with the heightmap bit for now and maybe might do one after skyrim comes out...

So here's my idea: Total Conversion (I can hear the bodies hitting the floor from fainting already. :p)

1. Beg/plead/bribe Onra to make a full tamriel hightmap once skyrim comes out (including using the correct sizing of skyrim if Beth doesn't)... import into skyrim

2. Convert/import as many meshes from Morrowind/Oblivion as possible (with all permissions from people we use of course!!!) ...

3. Get the _baseline_ continent set up the way it supposed to be (mountains/lakes/rivers/forests/etc where they're supposed to be)...

4. Get the largest cities in place (given the size we'd be working with, I'd start with closed cities - OC's can come later as an option for those of us with super high end rigs)

5. Referring back to #1 - replace/reset the Skyrim assets (as in the entirety of the game) back in... on the 'book correct' size map... this will take tweaking of the locations, a PITA sure, but ain't that pretty much everything with TES series? lol

6. The fun bit... after skyrim's MQ... extend the MQ to 'rebuild the empire'... *stunned faces all around*

That little bit, gives us sooooooo much play room... And that's the bit i've actually started mapping out... the quest line to reform the imperium. :)  So the amulet of kings was lost?  Find it/make a new one....  So the Kings Guard is disbanded and disillusioned?  Reunite/lead them.... seccessionist areas?  Conquer/politic them back into line.

That's just a few of the ideas I have kicking for the quests....

Bonus to this method... Don't have to pull in Morrowind/Oblivion quests, npc's, AI, Specific Dialogue and things like that... critters probably.... Mostly... items... and if an item already exists in skyrim (buckets, forks, knives, etc) just use the skyrim material instead... cut doen the number of items needing conversion/importing/improvement.

Yar, okay, this got longer than I meant it to... In short, I plan on doing this (to my no doubt many headaches) whether anyone else is crazy enough to or not. :D  (I've been modding a long time, lots of different games, but 99.9% has always been for my personal use *shrug* Never figured people needed/wanted more houses/vaults, weapons, etc... plenty of people already make those things. :)

OK I am no good at modding I would first off like to say your guys's work was amazing I was completely blown away by it.  As soon as I found morobivion I fell in love with it and downloaded it.  This is my question or request.  Could you guys make moroblivionsky that would be amazing.  Think of it playing Oblivion and morrowind on the skyrim engine.  The graphics would be amazing and it would be cool to duel wield in morrowind and oblivion.  It would make both games better at once.  I am just asking/requesting this I know that it will be a hard to do but if any one out there can do this it would be you guys.  I am an absolute noob at advanced modding like this so I can't do it.  This is just a request you guys don’t' have to but if  you could or would I would be amazed.  But Please think about it.

first off  porting nif files is never just copy the file from one directory to another it always requires the object to be ported through a script like nifscript through a 3d a progrma like blender. it also means that the nifscript needs to be updated for skyrim, unless bethesda provides us with one.

other questions that will need to learned before we could ever do a skyrim project

how are things renderd  in game

the scripting language

the havoc system

how landscapes and  static objects work

etc etc. I think we are better off sticking with morroblivion  until it is  complete,  and then once skyrim is known  we could do a project. maybe

Oh I wasn't claiming it would be easy... and yes I know that porting isn't just copying... and yes I know people would have to learn the new engine, what it can/can't do...

However, I didn't say that everyone just drop everything and jump on this idea... I said _I_ was doing this... and it's just planning right now... Not scripting, not porting anything... planning...

Planning can/should be done before anything else eh?  planning gives time to learn the new toy... running off half cocked on day one... most likely a bad idea. :p

Anywho, each to their own... *shrug*

While we would all love a roam forever land, I think that if Morrowblivion ever gets to see the end of that tunnel...everyone involved especially the backbone guys will need a bloody good break. many of us 'users' don't appreciate how much hard unpaid annoying thankless work goes into big projects, and how many tempers get frayed and friendships get torn by the workload... I for one will be overjoyed if there is even just one more update... and I'll be over the moon to see it finished.

So hats off tho the Heros of Morroblivion

Imo morroblivion IS finished because I can play right through the morrowind MQ without probs.

It is open to modding, just like the original and if we don`t mind silent voice even that is finished as it will take maybe a year to voice act it and that is just extra candy.

The land of Skyrim is already in place on the big map so are Blackwood and the others.

There is still maybe some work to be done on Bloodmoon and Tribunial but that will be done,it is just a matter of time.

I wish I could be more helpful around here but I quess age and speed don`t mix.:)

Waay too much speculation.

As to the Game Engine .. You should just wait a week or two, buy a copy of skyrim, and see for yourself.

When/If this looks like it can/will happen...  My vote is for "Tamriel United" for the mod name.

I just want realtime shadows  :~

Let’s hope we really get the Real-Time-Dynamic-Shadows this time.

Accumulating Snow that’s the one I expect not to be in the game.

Hmmm, I hope snow accumulation makes it in game.

I really hope there's collision for precipitation, i.e. rainfall and snow don't fall through roofs, shelters, or overhangings like it did in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Agreed with Robert's last comment!

Snow accumulation would be sweet, and probably not impossible if you made it so thta the ground 'moved' vertically based on how much snow fell...

There was a mod for Morrowind that prevented rain to traspass the roofs and solid stuff, so it was possible to make it even in morrowind. Accumulation, that is another matter.

I tried a rain mod for oblivion, but it didn't work for me.

Accumulation would be crazy, but if you could edit ground height, then you could make the snow 'grow' by raising the white ground texture higher... I think it'd be tricky but possible, yes?
