Game temporarily freezes when mouseover/click on buttons

Submitted by FalconPunch2 on

I just installed Morroblivion, and now whenever I move my mouse over or click a menu or dialogue button the game temporarily freezes for about 2 -3 seconds. It didnt do this before i had it installed, and it didnt when i had it installed but not activated. Ive tried running it with no extra mods installed and with no extra mods activated, but nothing changes. It must be one of the key files for morroblivion, but i dont want to uncheck them as it will stuff up the game. Does anyone know why this is happening?

If you want more details, please ask

Wow, I've never heard of something like this before. Are you running with the current version of OBSE? Is your system already pushed to the max without morroblivion?

It's possible that you're running another mod that is eating up the proccesser during menu mode... like a faulty script.

Try running with and without obse...

man, this is an interesting one for sure.

Any other info you could give / think of may help. I'd like to figure this out. ;)

Morroblivion is a heavy mod. Maybe lowering your Graphical setting can do the trick. Does the same thing happen when you are in Cyrodiil?

The only thing I can think of is an antivirus/pc security thing: I noticed a while back that my security suite kept flagging Oblivion's keymapper as a dodgy key logger, and was scanning every time a key was hit in-game. Something like that might account for the delay... Does this happen when you're playing Oblivion without Morroblivion?

It doesn't happen when I'm playing that I know of.

Maybe you should do some virus scans of your oblivion folder? If the scan comes up clear, then disable your security suite when you play, or let oblivion run in its exceptions list so the antivirus isn't running with oblivion / scanning it.

Let me know!

Yeah, it's in my exclusions list. (Nothing got flagged on a scan.) I actually noticed it a while ago after finding I had input lag on Morrowind and deciding to check my other games.

That's so weird. So you've had input lag in other games as well?

Man this is something I've never heard of before!

There are serveral possible solutions discussed in this thread: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9990

  • Shut down video card tools and software that runs in the background (ATI tool, Nvidia desktop, or anything that controlls your video card and/or its fan speed through software)
  • If you must use this software, increase the priority of these tools in windows task manager
  • Turn off all antivirus when playing games (not just excluding folders)
  • If you have the problem in other heavy-duty games, maybe you need a new video card or a better computer cooling solution (Morroblivion puts about as much strain on my system as the brand new Deus Ex: Human Revolution!!!)
  • Update your video card drivers and/or reinstall the game and/or reinstall windows
  • If you are using a wireless keyboard and mouse, try it with wired versions to rule those out as the cause

I am closing this issue, since the original poster submitted it two weeks ago, he hasn't returned.  Most likely it was an antivirus problem and he fixed it but forgot to post the results.  Meh.
