Fort Crashes

Submitted by Payne-XIII on

I am having an issue with every fort in Morrowind, any time I come up on one the game crashes. I use the Purge Cell Buffer line but it didnt work, I even have the mod for this to do it automatically and still cant get close. I found out the only way I can get close to any for is a I save with ever few steps I take and keep restarting then when I get into a fort it loads up like normal and Im good to go but when I exit the game dont even load it just crashes. I reinstalled the Eloth's Overhaul thinking maybe I screwed something up but nope wasnt that either. Please help me on this please Ive tried a lot of things to get this to work, I also cant find anything on this issue so I dont know how common this is. Thanks

Other people have reported fort crashes at Fort Moonmoth (yay searching for the word "fort" haha)

No one really knows why this happens.  You can try:

  • Disabling distant land in your graphics settings
  • Walk don't run when you approach the fort
  • Waiting over 3 days of game time (in the game) to clear dead creatures
  • Upgrade your computer's hardware and/or turning down your graphics settings (especially turning off OBGE if you are using it)
  • Disabling all of your other mods besides morroblivion and seeing if one of them is causing it.

Ive been to both of those topics, its close to the same problem but everything there didnt help me, Im starting to believe its a texture issue with Forts and Dwemer Ruins that when I get close and even trying all these steps nothing works out for me, but the rest of the game runs great even if Im running throwing magic everwhere with a ton of enemies behind me until I reach a fort or a ruin

What happens if you fast travel to a fort?

alright I think I fixed it, Put the window into box view and then click very low settings then go into the game and reapply the settings you need/love best to make the game look like its suppose to and then from there close out your game re load it and then the game will still look great with all the lighting and fantastico-ness of everyones dedication and work into, but with no crashes and forts and ruins are able to explore, I have no idea why that worked for me since I have more than enough ram and processor power to run it, Graphics card isnt the best but 2gigs should get this game done so IDK but who cares

***@Robert: It would act like it would load and then crash I went to jail and walked out and it crashed right at the door, But this above here fixed my issue and it still plugs into my HD TV and looks better than the Xbox 360 version so Im happy now, until something else occures
