moddding YOUR OWN morroblivion

Submitted by elderago on

hi first off i wanted to say this, morrowinf has been out for almost twelve years, and over thes years it has had a very very active modding community, there are so many mods and  texture replacer out there that along with the MGE you could make ,morrowind look as good if not better then oblivion these day  see this  for what I mean

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Jxt-yZ-so&feature=related never mind the obnoxious voice over.

anyway back to my orginal post there are many many textures an mesh replacers used for morrowind that could be with some work put into morroblivion, for you own personal use of course, for texture replacers use a a photoshop editer like gimp take the texture  and create a normal map for it (you will need a gimp normal plugin for this) and then save the orginal color texture as dxt 1 and the normal map as dxt 3 (make sure the opacity is below 95 percent).

for meshes (weapons and static only I have yet to see a good method in doing armor) you can create a new convex, or take an objects collison and the put it over the mesh.

here is a link to some good morrowind textures that can be used (they really are good people)

http://pnfiles.gamespy.com/hostedftp/planetelderscrolls/fms/files/mods/8987/Modlist_Credits13.pdf

remember ONLY due this for your own personal game, otherwise you are ripping from an author  meaning your stealing it/

I'll update this on my own time with a better guide.

Or, instead of making something that can you can only use for yourself, you could help Eloth with trees, Speedy with landscaping, Telemessick with object placement, Thermador with Merchants, OldWolf with clothing, Darth South with tombs, or RobertNeville with voiced dialog. Or, you could add collision to Dreug, and fix the Kwama Workers and Nix Hounds. Or, you could place Bloodmoon creatures, debug the Bloodmoon Quests, add Tribunal Quest or the East Empire Company. There is plenty to do.

Don't get my wrong, I have HEAVILY modified my own version of Morroblivion for my own personal use. Everything respawns, and there are 50 (heavily modified) Oblivion Gates scattered around Vvardenfell, player homes, a transportation network, etc. But, Eloth spent Years working on his Visual Overhaul. If he, or Hashmi, or HelpfulPerson had kept things for their own personal use, then we would all still be using vanilla Morrowind textures. Things from the community are available, and so far every person, except David Wolf, that I have ever contacted about including their work has been more than happy to let me do so. You don't have to keep things to yourself; all you have to do is ask, and give people credit for the original work they have done.

okay, when modding, its safe to just check morrowblivion under oblivion amd mod and add the esp's and such? Or do we need resources from morrowinds directory? I was using the tutorial from oblivion cs but that teetered off about just before the end of chapter 3 so I still havent gotten around to finnishing that so wouldnt know.

The perils of using an outside spellchecker...OOOPs just lost all I was gonna post...fecher |(

Well the crux of the matter is... I made a simple mod through text addition to the Dead Taxman quest which allows the player to take over Gilnith's shack after the 'exicution' . I have removed all ownership tags from objects inside the shack and wish to remove the body at the conclusion of the quest.

This was originally planned just for me but after reading the above posts I feel guilty and selfish, so if you can help me complete the mod by telling me how to get rid of the body It's available to anyone with Morroblivion installed that wants it...

I might need a bit of help uploading and packaging...all my other stuff has just been for me.

And Thanks again for Morroblivion!

7vincent7black7 (like the Bike?)

Anyway I think I understand your question... If you tick the Oblivion ESM box and the Morrowind_ob ESM box in the CS you can start modding... when you click 'save' a selection box will pop up and ask what you wish to call your mod...
(Vince_01) for example... it will be saved as an ESP and you only need to click that one the next time you wish to work on that mod... as the required ESM's should load automatically :)

unless I misunderstood you.

There are two prerequisites, first, the body must be flagged as a "Persistant Reference" in the first window when you double-click on the body in the Render Window. Second, give the body a name, say "mwDeadGilnith". Then, wherever you changing ownership, or whatever else you are doing, use the command: mwDeadGilnith.Disable Poof, no more Gilnith. Maybe attach a script to the front door of the house, that when activated disables the body. Don't forget to put an "Activate" in the door script, otherwise the door won't open. Make a new form for the door by giving it a unique Editor ID. Do NOT just edit the basic door.

Heya David... I got a minor problem here in that Gilnith is alive in my CS...he only 'becomes' a dead body when I kill him!

are you thinking that I should use a second 'duplicate cell' for the ownership changes... really I only changed the objects in the original cell as you're not gonna steal them while he's alive and he don't need them after!

another problem is that I don't understand ...well 'Scripting' really, if you could find it in yourslef to point me toward a relavent one that I may use as a base to change I might have a chance... albeit a slim one

Sorry for being a pest

Sorry, I was thinking of the wrong part of the quest. This will be even easier. You don't need a script, and Gilnith does not need to be dead. Make him a persistant reference, give him the name I suggested, and put the line of code in the result script for Stage 90 of the quest. You have to give the ring to Thavere Vedrano to earn the house.

Oh yeah...RESULT!

Thank you David it worked and shifted his body leaving the place clear for a player base...TOP MAN!

I'll play it through a couple more times from Chargen to make sure I've missed nothing and then start looking into posting a mod for Morroblivion if you don't mind, I may have to look up a tutorial on packaging first though!

For v2 add some dialog to Thavere Vedrano telling the player about the house. You'll have to think of something credible for her to say.

That is already done by Socucius when he rewards you... he tells you that as the place is now empty...etc, also I allowed Gilnith to have 'plans'  toward Thavere and we can assume that may have been instrumental in the murder... While I have had Thavere aware of embezzement accusations made by Gilnith about Processeus... perhaps to win affections!

Thanks.

And for my next house I think   Nuccius...why doesn't he just leave, he has the 100 gold and the boat is there, Go man!... Oh yeah... about your house?

Update..

Now you can do the 'let Gilnith live' option as well and still get the shack... he gives it to you when he gives you the ring and scarpers to the mainland.

Ok it was an Accident...I chose the wrong option when confronting him 'through a mouse slip' and had to go along with it... but a little Dialog change from him and...all is well, I guess that completes it.

Can someone tell me the location of the body?

A user PMed me about the quest and said that the body is covered with grass and it is very hard to see until you are right in front of it. Cell coords should be enough.

Thanks!

Use the console command "tg" to toggle grass off. That should help in finding the body. If you're heading out of town across the bridges, go out of town a little ways and then take a left. Look around the shore-ish near some rocks. If you hit a dead body on the road or an ancestral tomb, you've gone too far.

Sorry, I don't know the coordinates, I can't play right now, so I'm just going off memory.

Wow! What was the real topic here?

Well it started off as a suggestion and then got Hijacked by me a bit...Soz, but what was achieved is that I have now released a mod for Morroblivion instead of making it just for me... Thats gotta be a positive!;)

Dave B:

You should provide the ESP for those Vvardenfell Oblivion Gates. I can't mod, but would LOVE to have gates there. Please pretty please??
