Serious graphics glitches

Submitted by Rindfan on

Hey there!

I'm getting these massive graphics glitches within a minute or so after starting a game, whether it's a new game or a save. There's no pattern to it, other than it always occurs within a short space of time. Either way, it renders the game essentially unplayable.

Yes, I followed the installation instructions, and I've got Eloth's visual overhaul and the Collision pack update thingy for it.

Any ideas? :([External image][External image]

UPDATE

Now it won't load properly at all. After a CTD with the usual useless message of 'encountered a problem and needs to close', NOTHING works. The program will load up as normal, but no savegames will load without a CTD, and clicking on 'New Game' causes a CTD.

Only thing I can say is for you to try disabling all mods except Oblivion and Morrowind_ob esms, then see what happens.

Also are you sure Morrowind_ob.esm loads after Oblivion.esm?

As far as I can see, the load order is correct. Oblivion.esm loads first, THEN Morrowind_ob.esm, then everything else. I'll try it with just those two and get back to you. Need to restart my machine first, as it seems that whatever glitch prevents Oblivion from loading 3D has affected every other 3D app I've got. None of them will run, claiming that there's not enough video memory....

Um could be video card failure.  :-(

Try a different video card (or possibly, motherboard).

Okay, I've done a reinstall of both Oblivion and Morroblivion, testing each thing out seperately as best as possible.

So far it seems to be working, and I'm not running Eloth's visual overhaul, or the collision thing that matches up with it. Fingers crossed!

I've only had one missing mesh box so far, and that was for a chitin arrow quiver on an NPC. Also, the shopkeeper in Seyda Neen doesn't sell Chitin arrows like he does in vanilla Morrowind. Is that intentional?

I shall see how it plays tomorrow - after I've had some sleep - and see if the glitch returns.

What kind of GPU are you using? At the moment I use a Geforce 6200 128MB. I see the exact same thing as you describe when I use Eloth's visual overhaul. The problem is that the game wants to use more then 1GB of video memory but unfortunately I only have 128MB, LOL

I guess you and me are just asking for trouble.

Hmmm, yeah that's probably pushing it. Although I'm only on 256MB vram with Eloth's visuals, and I've never seen that before.

That may be what it is. I've got a GeForce 7800GTX, which upon further investigation only sports 512mb of memory. Oh well...

I think your model of video card should be able to run Oblivion just fine, but I agree with Thermador. It might be a failing card, since it also affects your other programs.

Oh, it does run Oblivion fine. Always has. It's just this overhaul that it doesn't seem to like, and it would appear with good reason. :)

Stop right there, criminal scum!

Seriously, don't spam, m'kay? :)

Well I've got a GTX 560 and I haven't noticed anything, so yeah I guess it's your video card

Is serious clipping of a Bad Texture or Mesh Over 12 months old

When you look at Picture dont look at the Clipping have a look a the country side

If it was a video Issue it would not have generated the rest of the country side is Correct
