Morroblivion and Cider Issues

Submitted by joshua w on

First, absolutely great job on the Morroblivion.  It is humbling to see such great work.  I downloaded and installed everything on my Windows 7 pc and it worked great.  Then I got greedy and decided to install everything into a Cider wrap on my Mac Book Pro.  Oblivion works fine, but it is as if Morroblivion isn't there at all.  Here's my install process.

I networked my MBP and PC.  Then, I copied Oblivion into the c_drive inside the Cider wrap into the same location that it occupies on my PC.  I also copied the contents of the Oblivion DVD into the f_drive so I can run it without the dvd.  Next, I copied Morrowind into the c_drive inside the Cider wrap.

I fired up Oblivion and was extremely happy to see the Bethesda screen.  I hit "new game" and started creating a character.  Unfortunately, I was in the prison cell instead of the start screen for Morroblivion.  I played through the sewer, just to see if the boat ride route to Morrowind was available.  It was not.  Any ideas what I am missing?  Thanks.

Hey Joshua, I also am running Morroblivion with a lot of Morroblivion mods under Cider. Basically, what you have to do is have Morroblivion installed already on your PC side, then drag and drop your whole Oblivion folder into the appropriate place in your Cider wrapper.

So if you've done this, you technically have Morroblivion installed, it's just that Cider isn't seeing any of the mods (esp files). So you have to edit your Plugins.txt file so Cider makes Oblivion see your mods.

For me, the Plugins.txt file is located in

Oblivion - GOTY.app/Contents/Resources/Preferences/p_drive/User/Local Settings/Application Data/Oblivion

Open it up and make it look something like this:

[External image]

Notice there's a space in the beginning of the file, then Morrowind_ob.esm, space, mod, space, mod, space, etc...

Morrowind_ob.esm must be the second one, like in Windows, then you can put in whatever mods you're running after it.

After you've edited the file and saved it, go to

/Users/<Your username>/Library

and find the Oblivion GOTY preferences folder and delete it. This is like initializing everything for the wrapper. Kinda resets everything. Gotta do this everytime you mess with your preferences, i.e. mods.

Fire up Oblivion and new game, and you should be good to go.

Again, these instructions assume you're using Nightblaze's wrapper. Whose wrapper are you using?

Robert,

Thanks for the reply. I agree with your analysis - it makes sense. I am using the Cider Wrap I (2583) found on this page:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=176594

So it is an old one. I found NightBlaze's on The Porting Team, I will download it and try again.  Thanks for your help.

Okay, so I downloaded Nightblaze's wrapper, copied everything over to it.  Still no Morroblivion.  I edited the Plugins.txt, putting Morrowind_ob.esm second and a empty line between each mod (I figured that was what you meant by "space" from looking at your picture.).  I am runnig Lion.  My oblivion folder was under username/documents/my games.  I deleted it.  It switched the screen from being 1400 x 900 back to the default, so I think it worked.

Any more ideas.  And thank you for your help.  I read through your exchange with NightBlaze over at Porting Team.

Ah, I think I know what the problem is. Lion won't let you see your Library folder, so type this into Terminal:

chflags nohidden /Users/<Username>/Library

and then you should be able to find and delete the folder:

/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Oblivion - GOTY Preferences

or simply put

/Your Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Oblivion - GOTY Preferences

That worked!  Thank you Robert.
