When I talked to Vivec, he gave the infamous "I HAVE NO GREETING." NPC conversation bug. I unlocked the door and prematurely talked to him, if that's the reason, then avoid this. But I'm concerned that this may affect the Main-Quest.
This is an installation problem or gameplay style problem (going around console-unlocking doors).

I hope it's the second one, I was just checking out the general places in Morrowind when I got the new update.
I just got to the point in the main quest where you have to meet with vivec after becoming the hortator and the nerevarine and i get to him and get the "i have no greeting"..... so i update from v48 to v49 and retry still "i have no greeting" looked in cs to see if vivec had a script at all and none was assigned looked for one that could be his couldnt find any but i dont know what the name of the script could be... so im stuck, can't continue the main quest, should i reinstall the support files?
nevermind i figured out what i did i made the custom races (vivec, ashghoul, dagoth, ect) unplayable because they made it to where i couldnt change the hairstyles and eyes of my woodelf and apparently thats where the problem was i made them playable and it fixed itself

I think you normally get this if you havn't done the 1.2 patch (or maybe the unofficial patch as well). It usually affects all custom races...
Vivec's worked fine for me, so its probably just a patch issue.
