You haven't got Morrowind GOTY in this directory!

Submitted by oracle789 on

Hi, everytime I try to install MorroblivionInstaller.exe I press next and then it tells me to choose the Morrowind directory, but when i press ok it says ''You haven't got Morrowind GOTY in this directory!'' So I changed it and put it in the steam folder. No luck, same issue. Please halp!

1. Yes I have a legit version of Morrowind Game of the Year from steam.
2. Yes I have a legit version of Oblivion Gae of the year Deluxe from steam
3. This is getting annoying and I want to play Morroblivion :P
 PLZ HELP!!

FIXED: I reinstalled both morrowind and oblivion and redownloaded the .exe and it worked! :D

The folder you are looking for is something like: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\morrowind

Or wherever you have Steam installed.  It might be like, C:\Program files\Steam\SteamApps\common\morrowind or something.  Just browse until you find it.

Yes I did. lol that's what I meant when I said I put it in the steam folder. Sorry for the confusion :P It is stll the same I have no idea what is wrong..

You need to browse to the folder that contains the file "Morrowind.exe" ... morrowind's main executeable. The same folder should also have the "Data Files" of Morrowind.

Ive had issues trying to get the esm to unpack as well, using a CD install of the original morrowind and both the expansions from separate disks. Does the installer specifically require a GOTY copy or will it be happy so long as the Morrowind + Bloodmoon + Tribunal ems's are in place. Or maybe I'm missing something else.

It requires GOTY. So I bought GOTY from steam today :P

The installer looks for the following files (actually it might look for a few less but not more):

Directory\Morrowind.exe
Directory\Data Files\Morrowind.esm
Directory\Data Files\Morrowind.bsa
Directory\Data Files\Tribunal.esm
Directory\Data Files\Tribunal.bsa
Directory\Data Files\Bloodmoon.esm
Directory\Data Files\Bloodmoon.bsa

The structure is what is important here ... versions don't matter. So GOTY or seperate expansions ... you just need to have the files present and have the correct directory structure.

I don't know if steam has a different directory structure ... but if your structure does not match the above try to match it by manually copy\pasting.

Hey again Severian, I'm also running Morroblivion on the Mac just to let you know. I open the Morroblivion installer with a Wineskin modified so it has the mono framework (as you have said) but it has to be the mono version that runs like MS .net framework 4.0. I don't know which version of mono that is right now, but I'll go check what my Wineskin app has, and if anything, if my Wineskin app still works, I'll just send it over to you.

Ok, this "app" works for me, but I'm on Mac OS X Lion, and from your pics, I'm guessing you're on Snow Leopard. So there's a small chance it might not work, but I think it will.

So download the app.

Open the .dmg up, and place the "Morroblivion Installer" app somewhere else on your computer, like the desktop.

Double-click it --> Install Windows Software --> Navigate to wherever you have "MorroblivionInstaller.exe" and open it up.

The Morroblivion Installer window should pop up. Install like normal, and it should work. I just checked, and it worked for me.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot. After that, Wine will say some stuff, just quit out of the app. Not elegant, but it works

Dang, that means it crashed right when you selected Morrowind. I get the same "Oops" window after the installation. Can you select your Oblivion folder? Or does it crash immediately after that?

no i can't select oblivion...... in the moment i select the morrowind directory... i have that error

mmmm... but i can select oblivion first of morrowind... and the app still work...but when i choose morrowind directory i have the oops message

These are legitimate installs of Morrowind and Oblivion right? They're not pirated or anything?

yes they are

Ok, I'm making another wrapper.

This shouldn't matter, but why aren't your Morrowind and Oblivion folders in a Wineskin/Cider wrapper?

i have moved their forlder... from cider to desktop.....so i have all the folder i need (morroblivion ..morrowind and oblivion) on desktop .....more easy than click click click...(cider....trangaming ...c drive ...programmm files bethesda...ecc... every time)

i have already try the morroblivion installler with the folder in their  cider but don't work

Ok, uploading another Wineskin wrapper. I still can't think of the problem though. It's Morrowind GOTY right, with Tribunal and Bloodmoon right? Can you/have you played Morrowind, Bloodmoon, and Tribunal on your Mac?

yes i have morrowind goty with tribunal and bloodmoon...and yes i can play /have played on my mac without problem...same story for oblivion+shivering isle....infact this problem is very strange....

acc...i hope this work..... i love morrowind the story .. and i like the gameplay of oblivion.... morroblivion for me is a dream :)

Ok, try this.

... :( nothing to do... if i choose morrowind directory the program give me the oops error... if i try to choose not the morrowind directory but the cider app (with inside morrowind) i have the message you haven't morrowind in this directory!

anyway thanks for your help and your interest in my problem.... i don't know.... maybe my morrowind.exe file is not good ..maybe i must change my path folder for morrowind   ...mistery :) ahahaah

if you have any new idea let me know....i will continue try to install and hope ;)

And you've tried putting Morrowind back into cider and choosing Morrowind from inside the wrapper right? This is weird man, I have to think more about this. Sorry my methods haven't worked.
