Morrowind_ob.rar: The file "???" header is corrupt

Submitted by swmmr1928 on

This should be directed to Thermador and Glorf97

Asus G73jh laptop

OS:Windows 7 64 bit

Processer:Intel Core i7

Installed physical memory:8gb

GPU:ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

I run:Morrowind_ob Version 025.exe and select the Morrowind and Oblivion directory

Then it says:You are ready to install

Then I click install.

Then it says sucess, and Morrowind_ob.rar arrives in oblivion's data folder, just like the readme.

When I unarchive this rar, I recieve the following message from winrar:

"!   C:\Games\TES\Program Directory\Oblivion\Data\Morrowind_ob.rar: The file "???" header is corrupt"

7-Zip gives the message:

"0 unexpected end of file"

What have you guys done, is this the dreaded corrupt file? Why does this happend and more importantly, how is this fixed?

I gave up on bash and am using OMM.  It is very painful to wait forever for OMM to create OMOD files especially if I have to remake the morroblivion omod because the rar is corrupt.

Thankyou and my appologies if this has been addressed.

Another question about the step when I am installing the three mods(I am using OMM because BASH would not start and did not create a bug dump even with the cmd fix).

I install Vvardenfell_Imports.omod no problem.

I double click  morroblivion v0.25.omod and the OMM replies, "morroblivion v0.25.omod conflicts with an already active mod.  Do you wish to be warned about any file conflicts?"

Is this normal?

Last question:
In OMM, the button titled "launch oblivion" does not work, it gives me an internal service announcement and nothing else.

I specifically address the ??? issue in the Installation instructions. That is why I had recommended people read the Installation Instructions. You can ignore the error. The file is not corrupt. I will try putting the exe in the rar next time instead of the rar in the exe. I have no idea about OBMM. I do not use it.

Things I have figured out:

1) In OMM, hold down shift before clicking OK to make the 'launch oblivion' button work

2) One of the readmes mentioned having the same problem dealing with incorrect header, but said that this does not cause obvious problems.  I also have got this thing working despite these nasty warnings! God that was the longest install I have ever gone through!

Yeah, I'm running OBMM and everything runs fine. So OBMM is an option to those who don't want to use the other methods of installing.

Haha this is a great gaming experience, but is there a hotkey for the "Take All" action?  My arm is getting sore moving the mouse to that part of the screen every time!

Also, when I am bartering, sometimes some of my items will not show up, especially miscellaneous items that I want to sell like candels.  Is this because the buyer does not want them, sometimes when I barter, the buyer will specifically say I will not buy this item.

This is still very enjoyable!

Yeah, I believe that's normal. Like, you couldn't sell that candle to a weapon smith. But you might be able to sell that candle to the pawnbroker.

I found a mod with a feature I want real bad:

"Mapped the Up Arrow key to the Take All button on the Container(looting) Menu"

,But is this compadible and where in the load order is ideal?

Many thanks :)

Loading this last looks like it works fine.

Things go corrupt all the time;, it is not something specifically wrong. Glorf97 is Long gone. All your specs don't really matter if the archive was corrupted during download. Redownload.

I think it's obvious that his original download is corrupted and he needs to download again. And, please do not install into the 'Program Files' folder ...

I wonder why he's using v 025 when v 51 is the most recent?

steph,

He is using v0.025 because his post was on the 3/25/11 [a year ago],I noticed it because it was also the date he joined.

"JohnDempsey" bumped this old thread to post spam.  Deleted his account, banned IP etc. Hope no one clicked the link he posted.
