I've been a minor lurker and a follower of this project since close to the beginning, before Galadrielle was forced to stop work. As one of those players who got into Bethesda games through Oblivion, it was always difficult for me to be truly engaged with Morrowind -- due to the outdated character models and die-based combat. I checked in regularly to see the frustrating difficulty that Wolf and others were having in trying to rebuild, and was sorry that I didn't have the modding chops to help them.
I stepped away for a year or so when I stopped playing Oblivion and returned to find what Dave B, Thermador, Hashmi, Eloth and so many others have created out of the fractured remains of that original idea. Not only had your new team been able to achieve what seemed impossible, but you had done so with respect for each other and no temper tantrums or battling egos -- despite what must have been incredibly stressful.
Having now played through most of the Morrowind main quest for the first time (with 55 hours of House Hlaalu quests and exploration), I have to pause to say thank you so much for the countless, selfless hours that all of you have poured into this truly breathtaking endeavor. I have never been so immersed in a video game experience as I have been playing through your Morroblivion. The landscape conversion alone is worth exploring, but the unbelievable feat is how many quests you've managed to get working. I have to regularly remind myself to go to bed or go to work.
Oblivion has always been a beautiful, but buggy, game and we each maintain a love/hate relationship with it as a result. The fact that you have made such a complex and immense mod so stable is a testament to the talent and conviction of everyone involved with this project. With the installer requiring a legal copy of both Morrowind and Oblivion (along with your refusal to use any mods without permission), you have helped to ensure the unquestionable integrity of Morroblivion.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your hard work. I hope more and more players come to experience what you have accomplished, and that the community continues to maintain the project for years to come.
I really can't say enough.
Very Appreciated
I'll certainly third that. I
I'll certainly third that. I haven't played through Morroblivion much yet (just some of the beginning content), but I am still awestruck by how well integrated and polished it feels. I have played Morrowind extensively before, but re-experiencing it with Oblivion's improvements definitely gives it new life and a great sense of improvement for me. I vaguely followed the project before, and to be honest I thought it would go the same way most TCs go (away long before it was finished). I rediscovered it a couple of months ago and was amazed to find that its still going and they actually got Morrowind almost completely working as intended. I've lurked on the forums awhile keeping up with development, and made a couple of bug reports, but I figured it'd be best if I wasn't one of those people that just posted complaints. So, thank you again for all of your hard work, and I hope to keep following this project from now on.
I found this site 2 weeks ago
I found this site 2 weeks ago and came back here with the specific intent of registering to express my deep gratitude for this excellent project within the forums. I am so glad that others have done so as well because it is really much-deserved!
Morrowind was my first Elder Scrolls game and I loved the world and story so much that I refused to even try Oblivion for 3 years after I bought it, fearing that as soon as I did it'd be hard to go back to Morrowind. It certainly was, just because the mechanics and graphics were so improved.
I used some excellent mods that tried to recreate bits and pieces of Morrowind, but the Morroblivion project was something I couldn't have dreamed of! Not only does it successfully allow you to enter Morrowind and re-experience the world and story, but the hardworking members of this team clearly put a lot of time into adding some of the Oblivion features into this mod as well. I was impressed beyond words when I stepped off the boat in Seyda Neen and it looked exactly as I remembered, but it was icing on the cake to see that there were even AI packages and unique faces on many of the NPCs! Incredible!
I cannot imagine how many hours went into this project, but I truly appreciate the amazing effort.
Thank you all SO MUCH!
Best regards,
Jessica
