Missing morrowind quests.?

Submitted by ironman12345 on

Playing morrowind in the oblivion engine is cool,in fact it is great, but I miss the small side quests that were in the original.

To mention just 2 of them, one was a small [ok not really important] love triangle in I which the player had to get a nord NPC to marry a woman at one of the inns.

And another was where a women wants info about an ashlander [he stands in one of the inns] as she thinks he is a spy.

Sorry for not being more specific, but there are lots of side quest in the original that are not in morroblivion.

If I play through the original with no mods added,is it ok if I try to add all side quest that are missing in morroblivion to the mod.?

It would give me a good excuse to play the original and would maybe aid in getting morroblivion finished as I can do the same with tribunal and bloodmoon.

All quests have been added but not tested. So they are there but they may be bugged ad unaccessible. They might ali be executed different than in morrowind

Thanks for the info brutal,in that case if I have trouble activating or getting those quests started,I will go into the CS to try to debug them.

As far as I know ALL Morrowind Quests are available, including ALL the side quests. I completed 373 Quests in my playthrough, including all of the side quests except for a few in Vivec. If you can't even remember the quests, how are you sure that you are in the right place, talked to the right NPC, or have done the right things? Morrowind is pretty particular about things like that... The marriage quest might be http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:The_Beauty_and_the_Bandit

None of the quest that should be given by NPCs in the Pelagiad Halfway Tavern are working except "The Beauty and the Bandit",Nelos reponds with no problems.

But the other NPCs are not giving quests, for example the Lady who stands at the top of the stairs is supposed to give a quest to the PC to get the Nord who stands outside in the street to notice her.

I will list all of the NPCs in the Halfway Tavern later with details of what they are supposed to say etc,but as the quest names that they are supposed to give the PC are not in the morrowind_ob.esm quest list in the CS,I can`t give those quest names.

I cannot find any references to the "missing quests" you are talking about. According to the Wiki, there are five miscellaneous quests around Pelagiad. * Ahnassi, a Special Friend: A great romance awaits for those male characters brave enough to try. * Nels Llendo: Give this handsome bandit some gold, a kiss, or a shallow grave. * The Beauty and the Bandit: Help a woman find love. * The Silver Bowl: Return this silver bowl found in a smuggler's cave to its rightful owner. * Sleepers Awake: Save several people from Dagoth Ur's spell. Ahnassi must be unlocked as part of the Thieves' Guild, Nels Llendo is met on the road, as is the Beauty. You must find the Silver Bowl FIRST, then find out about it, and Sleepers Awake needs the death of a Dagoth. Of these, the only one I did not complete was Ahnassi, but none of these match what you had originally described, except maybe Beauty and the Bandit, but you meet the Beauty on the, road not the Halfway Tavern. Of the miscellaneous quests associated with Pelagiad, Ahnassi is the only one that starts in the Halfway Tavern. There are no Miscellaneous Quests given by NPC's at the Halfway Tavern. I don't know what you are looking for, but I'm pretty sure you are looking in the wrong place. I could not find references to any Miscellaneous Quest originating in any city that have anything to do with any type of spy. However, I did not pick through all the Cantons in Vivec, and that is probably where it is. I think the Beauty and the Bandit is definitely the quest you were originally talking about, but you meet Maurrie Aurmine on the road from Balmora. She is near a fork in the road, not actually on the branch that goes toward Pelagiad.

The quests ironman12345 are referring to are part of the Less Generic NPC project's Pelegiad mod.

Sslaxx,

Thanks! for pointing that out,you are correct,I had all of the Less Generic NPC mods for each town installed in morrowind.

Sorry! for being so persistant Dave,I really thought that the quests were in Morrowind.:(

Those LG NPC mods really gave life to the game.:)

Converting these mods to Morroblivion would be a very good way of learning how to mod :)

Yep! you are right Dave, but there are lots of them in a big project and getting permission might be a problem.?

I will have a go at re-writing [converting] just the small one about the Lady and the Nord that I mentioned in my first post.

And then contact the LG NPC team [if possible] before doing more.

I have visited the LGNPC project site and it appears that as long as the correct credit is given to each author,it should be ok,but that obviously means Morrowind original, not sure about morroblivion.?

I have noted all of the dialogue and responces etc that I am going to need for the first pelagiad mini quest, and will be starting work on it tonight to get it into morroblivion.

Will be adding a lot more stuff to pelagiad and other towns later, town by town and some of them will link to each other.

I will keep you informed of the progress in a new thread later.

I'd be sooooo happy if you can convert LGNPC to morroblivion. :)

Thanks! EnvyDeveloper, but it might take about a week to do each town, and longer if I hit snags.

I have decided to not stick to the exact same NPCs that the original LGNPs mod used,to avoid any clashes with the morroblivion dialogue.

Instead I will be revising each quest story slightly and making new NPC characters [makes it more my work thay way].

The original storys will be used, but changed slightly.

And it is easier to write quests using new NPCs [like I intend to give Ladia a sister],than it is to add to excisting dialogue.

I have almost finished the first Pelagiad mini quest,I will finish the whole town before I open another thread.

Then add others to all of the towns.

I have one question though, when each town is finished where do I upload the archives to.?

Do I have to have a paid account at mediafire to put links to my files.?

You can get a free account at mediafire that allows you to upload files and pictures. You can then make them available to everyone the same way David shares the masterfile updates.

heres an example of the way I share my Oblivion mods:
http://www.mediafire.com/?30ho3k37pin9f

Sharing pictures works the same way. Just rest the mouse over a filename to see the thumbnail:

None of these are for sensitive eyes, tho. Some folks believe a person (specially females) should be covered from the top of their head to the bottoms of their feet with thick burlap so the weak males won't be tempted.  Sad.

Thanks! for the info steph,btw...great pics,I am a male but not sensitive.:)

Just a post to let you guys know that I am still working on this, but as there are a lot of topics and dialogue to get through it will take a while, also as I have to change some of the quest related info [for each town],keeping the dialogue to a logical flow it is taking more time than I thought.

Everything always takes longer than you think it will :) To give you some idea, House Redoran was the first Quest Line I built after debugging the Main Quest. I had vacation from work and figured I'd do it while I was on vacation. I did, but it took me ALL week! Every day, 10-15 hours a day... it took me all week. To be fair, however, there are 40 Quests in each of the Great Houses. And, I test as I go, making sure that every stage of every Quest works, and that the Quest Markers follow properly. Quest Markers are REALY EASY to make mistakes with, so be careful with them.

Yeah I agree Dave,it`s the going in and out of the game to check that takes most time, but it pays off.:)

BTW,I know that quest markers are helpful, but in some of the quests that I will be adding [like detective type quests],they might just make it too easy for the player.?

I will use them to quide the PC to the correct place, but sometimes by taking them right to the NPC and/or object might just ruin the whole thing.?

There will be lots of extra dialogue added to the excisting NPC`s that will give clues and sometimes directions to the possibly involved characters.

When I was adding Quest Markers to the Quests, I was thinking exactly the same thing, and was trying to walk the line between being too easy and being too difficult. Like, the "Brandy for the Fundraising Dinner" Imperial Cult Quest, that is supposed to be a hunt for five bottles of Brandy. But, anybody that has played the quest more than once knows where to find the Brandy. AND, more than one person has reported the lack of Quest Markers for this Quest as a "Bug" on the Bug Reports page. I do suggest that you add Quest Markers to every stage of every Quest. People that don't like or want them can make a different Quest active and, poof, no more Quest Markers. That's what I do most of the time. I have a couple of quests, like the "Seeking your Roots" Nirnroot hunt that do not have Quest Markers active most of the time. But, when I want or need them, the Quest Markers are there. To me, Quest Markers simulate things like in real life being able to ask around for directions, but in the game you can only ask what the developers have made responses for. And, if somebody comes along and adds AI to one of the NPC's involved in your quest, then responses for that NPC are no longer valid. If you are stuck, and can't figure things out, it is NOT any fun to have nothing to go on.

Yep! that makes sense, quest markers for all it is,and I agree that if you like to figure it out then just swap active quests.cool.:)
