is this normal?

Submitted by Spacecowbeefeatr on

Hello every one. I have a small question dont worry its nothing bad i just wanted to tell every one its possible.

I have been interested in Morroblivion for along time now. So i tried it out but i thought i could not run it as i have the following specs.

Intel core 2 quad Q8200 2.33ghz

4Gb of ddr2 ram

Gigabyte geforce 9600gt 512mb.

But i downloaded the complete pack and it runs at 30-45fps.

as the required specs are an Nvidia GeForce 470 or ATI Radeon 5700

i just found it amusing :).

Spacecowbeefeatr,

Are you running it with the all of the graphics turned up.?

Your rig specs are a bit dated but,if it runs at those FPS,thats real cool.:)

My settings are.

Resoulution 1920x1080

Antianliasing none

Distant Landscapes at max

16x af forced by nvidia drivers

And well i hit ultra high turn off vsync and yea thats it :)

That is just unfair. I have a GTX 260 and am forced to turn my settings way down to almost low. Though this may just be because my card is limited by a PCI-E 1.1 4x card slot (that is really bad). :p But luckily Skyrim does not seem to be affected by this, so all is well.

The "required" specs are really just to stop people from complaining all the time (e.g. posts like "Morroblivion runs at 10fps on my 10 year old Dell laptop, and it's your problem, not mine!")

With those recommended specs I posted, you should be able to get 30-60 fps with max graphics settings and tons of OBGE v3 shaders, so that's why I chose them.

However, if you know how to set up your rig / game settings to optimize performance on your machine (sounds like you do), you can run it on a pretty low-spec computer.  I used to run Morroblivion on a 512mb Geforce 7900 and a 3.0ghz Pentium 4 with 2GB of RAM...  but I sure as heck wasn't running it at max resolution with all of the graphics settings maxed out.

I'm running lower specs with my MacBook Air, both Morroblivion and Skyrim. But if you optimize your settings, it's amazing what specs you can get by with.

Makes sense i did use some performance mods like optimized textures so it doesnt lag on a 512mb vram card with no quality

loss so i recomend it to every one.

Spacecowboy, thank you for this! This could help out my slight FPS stutter in Skyrim.

Hey! just wondering does any one know how to use obge im just used to the Morrowind one with a gui :)

My specs are:

Phenon 2 X4 [4 cores running at 3.8 GHz] Black edition.

8Ghz 64bit DDR3 RAM.

ATI Radian HD 6450 with 1Gz DDR3.

I can run morroblivion maxed out,but to get the best distance LOD etc, oblivion.ini is tweaked a lot.
