Hey, just decided to try out the new version of the converter, and I am getting the same error as Ironman.  Has the link to the converter been updated, or should I just stick with my current .esm?  My internet hates mediafire, so I don't want to download again unless it is necessary.

Robert gave me a link to the files,but if you google [or seach] for msvcp100D and go to DLL.com you can download them.

You need msvcr100D too.

Shadow, I sent you a message.

For some reason, Chuvakin v093 is giving me troubles too, at least when I try to convert Oblivion.esm. I'll see if it's Oblivion or the converter.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

SB changed the .esm to .esp:

Renamed:

Morrowind_ob.esm

Into:

TES4.esp ( 81.120.230 bites ) ~ 77,3MB

So maybe oblivion.esm needs renaming to TES4.esp.?

THen renaming back after convertion.?

If that works I quess,the esp can be converted to an esm master with an esp to esm tool.

That works if you don't want to use the ini file. But I might want to use it if I want to skip certain forms or types (eg, an error always comes up with BOOK, therefore to get around that I'll skip it by adding it to the list of forms to skip.) Actually im pretty sure this is the problem right now. I think its getting hung up on BOOK and I need to skip it, but the program isn't recognizing the ini file for some reason.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I am getting:

R6010
-abort() has been called

Then I have end the program run.

It is happening on a BOOK form DATA chuck.

So my output file is only 1.64 MB.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I have got it working by changing the Chuvakin v093  ini file contents to:

[Log]
Language=english

[Files]
In=Morrowind_ob.esp
Out=Morrowind_sk.esp

[Skip]
Forms=PGRD, ACHR, ACRE, WATR, EFSH, ACRE, ACHR, DIAL, INFO, ANIO, ROAD, BOOK

Groups=GMST, GLOB, CLAS, FACT, SKIL, MGEF, SCPT, SPEL, BSGN, SGST, BSGN, HAIR, EYES, RACE, SOUN, SCPT, LTEX, ENCH, APPA, ARMO, CLOT, CONT, GRAS, TREE, FURN, WEAP, AMMO, NPC_, CREA, LVLC, ALCH, SBSP, LVLI, WTHR, CLMT, REGN, INGR, MGEF, WATR, EFSH, ACRE, ACHR, DIAL, ANIO, CSTY, PACK, IDLE, QUST, LVSP, LSCR, BOOK

[Forms]
StartID=19599360 ; 0x012b1000

It is now skipping BOOK in the forms line and also in the groups,so no books.

I have also deleted a lot of repeated groups that were added to the groups skip section.

The original is 77.3 MB (81,120,230 bytes) and the output file is
57.4 MB (60,205,025 bytes),but that is proberly due to the missing books and other things skipped during the convertion.

I skipped BOOK because one of them was hanging the program run in the converter.

Will try using the .esm extention later,but it proberly won`t work.

Reran it using:

[Files]
In=Morrowind_ob.esm
Out=Morrowind_sk.esm

And it worked fine,they are now both masters,but Morrowind_sk.esm is smaller,same as before.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Good to hear Morrowind_ob.esm converters fine for others. Can you get Oblivion.esm to convert over as well?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Ran it with:

[Log]
Language=english

[Files]
In=Oblivion.esm
Out=Oblivion_sk.esm

[Skip]
Forms=BOOK, NPC_, WRLD, SCPT

Groups=BOOK, NPC_, WRLD, SCPT

[Forms]
StartID=19599360 ; 0x012b1000

It said that the file convertion loop had finished,but the output file is only 27MB,the original is 247MB!.

I had to skip WRLD,NPC_ ,SCPT and BOOK as it was not finishing with those not skipped.

Will keep trying though as the Form & Chunk names seem different for Oblivion.esm,will have to do it by checking names in the CS then writing another ini file.

Like I said it got through but it is very small.

 Just thought of something,the start IDs are for morrowind_ob.esm:

StartID=19599360 ; 0x012b1000

Maybe they need setting to the start IDs of Oblivion.esm.?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

The Morrowind_ob.esm convert is getting better,only skipped BOOK and NPC_ as below and it went right through:

[Log]
Language=english

[Files]
In=Morrowind_ob.esm
Out=Morrowind_sk.esm

[Skip]
Forms=BOOK, NPC_

Groups=BOOK, NPC_

[Forms]
StartID=19599360  ; 0x012b1000

 Working on books and NPCs to try to find out why it is hanging the prog when they are not skipped.

Here's the source for v94.

Has anyone got the land to convert over?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I'm not sure if I built Chuvakin right, so either this or the memory leaks are the problem, but it looks like Land is starting to convert over, but not fully. Running Morrowind_ob.esm through the converter and opening it in the CK shows that the first seven exterior cells consistently have land, but after that, everything is under water again. I've told Anruin about this, so I'm waiting to see what he says.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Ok I'm not sure how to compile a project like this in Windows so whenever someone gets a compiled version up that would be cool.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I dont get it, all files are there but it gives a ERROR that it cant find them.
v093 & v094 Source code is incorrect, lots of errors and wrong pointers.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

With the solution open in Visual, right click the Chuvakin project and get the properties. Go to VC Directories and change the file paths. Edit: I can't give you step by step instructions right now, but you just gotta mess with it, and you'll figure it out. Example, source file path points somewhere else, so add a new one and point it to your src directory. Do likewise with the other ones. Make sure the parent directories thing is checked too. And since you can add directories, I don't know if this is good practice, but if those don't work, add the Chuvakin root folder to all the paths and make sure the parents option is checked.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Have to look into that some more.
Was doing the correction on the fly in the source code itself.
And thats very intensive work, atleast for me it is.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I do not have Microsoft Visual Studio,is it essential when compiling the C++ code,I can handle the rest of the stuff,but am puzzled by the reference to Microsoft Visual Studio.?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Yeah, it's not the source code that's wrong, since it builds and runs fine for Anruin. It's the folder paths that are wrong since we don't have the same file paths as he does. Usually, this isn't a problem in working with other people's source code, but for some reason this seems to be our problem. The only change I made to the source code was deleting the line that called for vld.h, which is for detecting memory leaks (vld=visual leak detector). But that's more for debugging (at least that's what I think). So I took that out since I kept getting an error in calling for a vld.dll, which I couldn't figure out how to fix. Edit: Ironman, Visual C++ is free, so yeah, I would get that. The solutions and projects can only be opened in VC++.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I fixed all the pointers to the correct folders.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Thanks Robert,installed Visual C++ 2010 Express,hope that is the correct version.

I am an old school guy,and prefer the Borlands approach,but as it`s free VC++ is cool,as I now have the best of both worlds.:)

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

SB, yeah the warnings I don't know what to do about, but Anruin said not to worry about them. For the manifest, I think you need to mess with the file paths under Debugging. Yeah, I think Anruin was using a program called Visual Leak Detector from which he was calling vld.h and vld.dll. I downloaded the program that has both of these. I pointed to vld.h which it recognized, and finally Chuvakin built. But then, when ran it, it ran into an error saying missing vld.dll. No matter what I did I could not get it to recognize vld.dll without having an error. So I took the line out of main.cpp that calls for vld.h to avoid that altogether. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. If it errors on you for zlib.dll missing, just copy that from an older build of Chuvakin into the folder of the new Chuvakin.exe.

I could be way out on this,but just had thought that as morroblivion_ob.esm had lots of oblvion stuff in it and in fact is dependent on oblivion.esm,it would only be complete when used in TES4 oblivion.?

Also when we install the shivering Isles DLC for oblivion that also makes changes to oblivion.esm.

Just an observation,but I think that to get morroblivion converted completely,we might first have to merge morroblivion_ob.esm and oblivion.esm together before converting to arrive at morroblivion_sk.esm.?

 My reason for saying this is because morroblivion_ob.esm contains lots of things from oblivion [including land to some degree] that it loses when converted to TES V.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

To test my above idea,I ran TES4Gecko and made oblivion.esm and morrowind_ob.esm into oblivion.esp and  morrowind_ob.esp.

Then tried to merge them,but Gecko is giving an error relating to the ANIO in  morrowind_ob.esp and will not merge.

So I tried merging oblivion.esp into the morrowind_ob.esm [master] but getting the same error.

If I could merge them at .esp level then convert the output to a master it would all be there.?

I have v094 compiled for 100% now.
Need to run for work so no time to test it or upload.

Sorry!

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Hey, if it seems to run fine, could you upload the converter? Also, let us know how it converts Morrowind_ob.esm if you can!

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

No land textures, but Land is starting to work! Hopefully Anruin irons out the bugs there, so we can have land everywhere, not just the first seven exterior cells.

What I love is the shadows!!! Morrowind nor Oblivion really had shadows (there are mods out there I know, but I think Skyrim does the best job with shadows) but here the shadows cast by the statics look amazing!

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Those look nice can't wait to try it out!

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Tasty. Mediafire upload? Pretty please?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Anruin got back with me on the land issues. I'm going to try to mess with some of the converter code tonight, and see if we can get more land converted. If it works, I'll upload the esm.

EDIT:
I just tested the latest Chuvakin v094SB converter.
I called it [ v094SB ] to indicate I did the compiling.
You never know if I did something wrong.

When compiling the new EXE, VLD needs to be installed.
http://vld.codeplex.com/releases/view/82311

1. Rename the [ Morrowind_ob.ESM v53 ] into [ TES4.ESP ].
2. Put the [ TES4.ESP ] in the same directory as Chuvakin.EXE.
3. Run the converter, and a [ TES5.ESP ] will be constructed.
4. Rename the [ TES5.ESP ] into [ TES5.ESM ]
5. Start the Skyrim Con-set, load the [TES5.ESM ], and save it
6. Rename the [ TES5.ESM ] into [ Morrowind_sk.ESM ]

Thanks SB, good work man! I cant check it out right now, but how does land look in your esm?
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

The landscape has gaps ! The missing land is below water level and totally flat.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Nah man, I'm serious, the first seven cells are fine for me, I can even run around in game on them. It's just that after that, all the other exterior cells have no land, well it's flat and underwater.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Why was [ item.cpp ] and [ item.h ] removed from Chuvakin v093 to v094 ?
Chuvakin v094 does not appear to need those files when compiling.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

With SB's compiled version I get the missing vld.dll error, I downloaded the visual leak detector and put it in Chuvakin's directory and when running it says I'm missing vld_x86.dll. Their website didn't have an option for a x86 download though. Anyone else have this problem?

Edit: Fixed it using leoblooms link below. I downloaded the source instead of the installer. I am also having the same problem as him now, it converts fine (although some weird stuff happens at the end) and it crashes the game when loaded.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I installed this http://vld.codeplex.com/releases/view/82311 and then the errors went. The esp crashes my game though, maybe I'm not skipping enough forms?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Change the extension from .esp to .esm and save it in the CK. Then it should be ok in game. Edit: Unless you want to edit your ini to allow multiple masters, I think you just open up your esp in the CK and save it as an esm. Otherwise, I think you have to add the line bAllowMultipleMasters=1 to the skyrimedit.ini file (is that's what it's called? I can't remember or check now), but it has to be under a certain section. I think it's under the General section, but I'm not sure.

I'm gone a few days, then I come back and this forum is on fire :D

I don't think I've ever seen so many new posts at one time, so it might take me awhile to get through them, but for now let me just say that I agree with Robert, the shadows in Morroskyrim are AWESOME!!!

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I can't find a skyrimedit.ini. If you mean Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini, the bAllowMultipleMasters line is not in either of those. Also would it be the same to just change the Chuvakin.ini import and export to Morrowind_ob.esm and Morrowind_sk.esm or would I still have to save it with the creation kit?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

It`s in the root Skyrim folder where TesV.exe is,it is named SkyrimEditorPrefs.ini.

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I can't find that line or anything similar to it in that file. Does yours have it? Do I need to add it?

Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Unknownone:  Try adding bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1 under [General] in the SkyrimEditor.ini, located in the root Skyrim folder.  To answer your other questions, you definately have to save in the CK.  That is the whole reason I decided to join, to tell people that Chuvakin converted files only work ingame if they are first saved in the CK, because it somehow fixes one or more unknown errors.  Also, changing the export name to Morrowind_sk.esm will still create a file with a .esp header, though the file extension will become .esm.  But this does not really matter very much as saving in the CK will also correct the header to match the file extension.

Good news guys: with Anruin's help, I was able to get a LOT more land converted. Actually, most land is there, it's only a few cells that dont have converted land. But the pattern of cells with no land is weird: it only occurs in South Vvardenfell. North and Middle Vvardenfell is perfectly fine. Maybe this will give Anruin a clue, I don't know. I'll post pics up later, and upload the master file.
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Good to hear progress is made on adding more land.

This is indeed a very strange bug.

Hopefully we get it to 100%.

The main post has been updated so you can get the most current esm. In other words, you can try this bad boy out! :D To travel around use the command: "cow wrldmorrowind x,y" (without quotes of course, and thanks Leobloom :))

  • Ald-ruhn (-2,12)
  • Balmora (-5,-4)
  • Caldera (-5,4)
  • Sadrith Mora / Wolverine Hall (37,7)
  • Gnaar Mok (-14, 6)
  • Dwemer Ruin (-14,3)
  • Vivec Temple (7,-24)
  • Erabrimsun Camp (26,-1)
  • Tel Aruhn (25,28)

For example, to travel to Ald-ruhn, you would pull up the console and type, cow wrldmorrowind -2,12

There are still a few holes, which oddly appear only in southern Vvardenfell. Fotunately, central and northern Vvardenfell have no holes. Also, there are no land textures yet, but we're working on it. Thanks to Anruin again!

I would love to see that turned into a tanning rack you can use and see others using!

[External image]

Here's a 3D rendering of Vvardenfell. All the odd square impressions are the holes where the land has not converted. As you can see, they only occur in the southern part. I can't figure out how to pan up just to make sure there are no holes up north, but exploring in game, I haven't found any up there, just in the southern region.

Robert! This is great!!!

EDIT: hmm I downloaded esm and Meshes, in CK all work fine. But I cannot understand how can I transport (go) to Morr. I'm trying to use console commands such moveto etc. But nothing happend.

"cow wrldmorrowind 0 0" will get you to the centre, the 0 0 being the co-ordinates.
