it like doesn't recognize the file directory i put in which is C:\programfiles(86)\Steam\steamapps\common\morrowind and always reverts back to C:\programfiles\bethesda softworks\morrowind i also have oblivion for steam also in same place place where morrowind. is it that theres too many didgits that I'm putting in and some how making it not save. neeeeed help. I'm stuck at this little problem otherwise i wouldn't have posted at lest 2 BIG comments.
is this supposed to work on vista or xp or both because the morroblivion.ini is not saving the place where it asks you to type where morrowind and oblivion are, says "do you like to save changes" i click yes and then the process starts over. now that i think is this able to work with steam (file location, not the game itself) it seems that whenever i search for a big mod like this it ends up doing something out of the ordinary.
Hey, I have noticed a couple people posting about having morrowind for steam. I was having trouble at first untill it dawned on me, I wasn't typing out the complete file path. here is what my file path was, hopefully this helps fellow steam users.
Morrowind=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind\
I did the same for oblivion and the ESP converter is currently running, hasn't crashed yet so I am hoping it doesn't :)
(I am running windows 7 so that is why I included the "(x86)" in the filepath. hope this helped!)
loginmaster..well all i can say is make sure you read the readme file..also check if both morrowind and oblivion cirectories on the converter ini file are equal to the ones you got your MW and OB installed in..and also the mod config too... blah can't really explain myself...read the readme dude
Ok iv redownloaded morrowind over and over again and i keep getting the same flippin message when i try to do the file conversion
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\MorrowindData files\Morrowind.esm Does not exist!
ummmmm any suggestions?
Did you install Morrowind to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind ?
-Try installing it somewhere else maybe, like D:/
-Try running the ESP converter with administrator rights.
-Or if on vista try turning off the UAC and run the converter.
So After moving both Oblivion and Morrowind to the Program Files folder(They were in Program Files(x86) I ran it again and everything ran great and then it said "Can't created C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Morrowind_ob.cnv!" Any suggestions?
i set a ; in front of Better Clothes_v1.0.esp, CanadianIce Robe Replacer.esp, and Armures de femmes.esp because i dont have those mods but the ESP_conv.exe still looks for them. am i doing somthing wrong or do i need to go get those mods
Hi,
I reinstalled Morrowind this WE,
Great pleasure to play this marvellous game again ;)
I use Ubuntu 9.10 and Wine/Play on linux to play.
My question is : " Does Morroblivion works well with this configuration and if yes, is there anything to do differently than with a Windows OS to be sure it will works ? "
Thanks in advance,
Groh
Reading through some of the posts, I've found that some people have the problem of getting the esp converter to run correctly. Here is something that I figured out, that I'm sure will help someone; When it says "morrowind.esm Tribunal.esm Bloodmoon.esm etc. does not exist!" there is something you need to look at. on your configuration, be sure you put a '/' at the END of the directory! ex; C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/Morrowind/ <-!!! When it says they do not exist, it is because the program looks for C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/MorrowindData files/morrowind.esm !!!! With the '/' it will look in the correct place, looking for C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/Morrowind/Data files/morrowind.esm instead!!! Hope this helps someone! I have noticed that in morrowind, some people's armors arent replaced, and a lot of people wearing armor are missing their arms! I found it rather funny to run around in this armor with hand to hand! :P
Heya. I just downloaded this mod. And when i run the esp converter thing, then it says that bloodmoon, tribunal, morrowind and some other files couln't be located.
But... I have windows 7, and a Norwegian computer. So... all my downloadfiles automaticly saves at Programfiles (86x). But on Norwegian it's Programfiler (86x).
Can you please help me, so i can change the destination path? Thank you :)
Im really tired now so i didn't read all the post and maybe someone mentioned it before but i found a solution:
The mod looks for files here: c:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\morrowind
and: c:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\oblivion
so if you (I did) changed "Bethesda softworks" to "bethesda" or for some other reason the names of the file are different (like when you bought the game from steam)
the map(folder) location is different, you should make sure that the oblivion/morrowind games are in :
c:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\
and here you should put the folders: "oblivion" and "Morrowind" and DON'T change the names of the maps in the game folders.
EDIT: the folder name might also be different if you downloaded free from some torrent engine/site or whatever the folder name for example: c:\program files\RAZOR\Bethesda Softworks\oblivion
PS: I if you have steam the maps are different i don't know how to fix this, i dont know shit about computers and the only reason i found this solution is i noticed the folder location in the CMD window were (where?) wrong.
My english isn't very well, forgive me for that.
Just installed this on Windows 7.
It works like a charm!
Yay! Vvardenfell!! Thank you so much :D
The only wrinkle was that the first time I ran the converter, it didn't have authorization; it failed, and then asked if I wanted to try with authorization.
Everything else worked like a charm.
YOU ROCK!

Help! Something is not working with the ESP converter. And other things for that matter. When I try to use it it says that there are "no records in!". when I tried to uninstall and reinstall morrowind, it said that it couldn't launch the program!

btw i did notice something......but r u the guy whos doing morroblivion armor restoration?.......i jus wanted to say that if ur still workin on it than great job and count me in as a future downloader!
Hmmm ... I have'nt tried any quest mods yet so I dont really have much experience with that ... but anyways I think there is an update\patch included with that mod that fixes crashes.
Oh and yes I am the one working on Armors restored :D ... thanks for your support.
........i do hav one more ?.....is the object replacer mod ne good?....in ur opinion....cuz i hav been on the fence about and im not sure if i want to use it or not......and no problem......thank you for ur help and advice that u hav given me so far......ill jus email the author and see if he can help....
Cheers,
Ghost
I wouldn't really recommend the object replacer ... at least not as such ... you get Shivering Isles plants (including the giant Mushrooms) which look odd in Vvardenfell. Also it replaces Ogrims with Ogres (so you get them showing up in Daedric Shrines and tombs ... which is just plain wrong ) and finally it replaces clothing of NPCs which looks nice but causes naked NPCs with other mods which effects NPC's (like quests or CNME etc.)
But you can try it if you like (tweaking the inis to fix the issues described above).

Whats is the path to you game install? I used g:\games\ etc if you have used the default like:
c:\Program Files (x86) [the {x86} will be the default Win path for 32bit software] you will have
issues with read right permissoons, so even a c:\Progams\ would work as it a non standard win7
directory.
I found to I had no luck till I patched Morrowind as well as Oblivion.
So having patched it and installing in non standard place the windoz don't care about I run the converter
then I tweeked the ini and chamged some of the mods and run it again,.. I got all of my 1024x1024 textures
and mods like Balmora Expansion v1.4 to load only thing to fix is the naked bodies running round now lol did
Better Bodies and Better heads so the look pretty good but need fix it for lore\Law sake a
I have follow the steps of installation and the mod finaly works but not completely......many clothes aren't visible and the eyes of the Npc are black and the map is empty ...............please help me!!! I REALLY LIKE THIS MOD!!!!
@leontas2007: Thats normal. Morrowind does not convert completely so there are bugs like that.
The map problem however is caused by CNME as far as I am aware ... disable CNME and try again.
thanks for the help.
I more thing.....is there any fix? I have search google and tesnexus and I have find a few fix mods but if you know more please let me know.
postscript:
I have download balmora expansion mod but it didn't work.....can you please help me with the installation?
There isn't a fix for everything ... yet, but we are still working on it. The thing is that there are too few people working on the project and so things are going really slow. Feel free to join the team and sped things up :p
To make mods, like balmora expansion, work you need to list them in morroblivion.ini (its in the folder which has the ESP converter you download from this website.)
I had same problem with wolfskin - so i disabled expansions (even though i have them installed) and converter seems to work.
If i get to morrowind now, im gonna try to make expansions work aswell.
Its fairly normal for the converter to crash ... however it works out if you just re-run it again.
Mine always crashes on some Vanilla door file ... I just restart the converter and it then it works fine till the end.
When I exit the ship all people of the town are swimming and only a few little isles can be seen, the doors of the houses staying on the air and no wall to be seen.
I'm using XP, have Bloodmoon and Tribunal, have loaded only the main file Morrowind.esm in the data files of Oblivion.
What can I do? Plaese, help and thank you.
Hey just downloaded this morroblivion andi have normal oblivion but GOTY morrowind installed (with tribunal and bloodmoon working) i followed the instructions on the top of this page (also in the readme) but for some odd reason i go to the converter and a black window opens say this:
Welcome in Morrowind to Oblivion mod transulator v0.98
Parsing Morrowind.esm
Parsing Tribunal.esm
Parsing Bloodmoon.esm
Can't create C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Morrowind_ob.cnv!
Press enter...
press enter...
And then it closes, could someone tell me what's going on and how i can fix this coz i do wana play this thing. Also aditional details i am using Windows vista i have only oblivion 1.2 patch, no morrowind mods, ALOT of oblivion mods includeing:
Akatosh mount
BusterSword
Deadly reflex 5.0
Francesco's leveled creatures-items
Mart's monster mod
MOBS mod's
If someone, anyone finds a solution to this please E-Mail me at Moonlightwolf@live.co.uk
Thanks for your help :)
Hey agen, i have solved my recent problem quite simply, all i had to do is run the converter as administrateiv and it is work working so if you have the same problem you know what to do, can't wait to test it out :D
When I click the converter it says:
Welcome to Morrowind to Oblivion mod translator v0.98
Parsing Morrowind.esm
Parsing Tribunal.esm
Parsing Bloodmoon.esm
can't create C:/Program files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data/Morrowind_ob.cnv!
Press enter... (I press enter)
Press enter... (I press enter again... and it exits the program...)
