MW screenshots

Submitted by Nandi on

This is a link to some good screenshots that capture atmosphere of Morrowind.

Maybe it helps Eloth in his further work, since some screenshots are way too lush and/or colorful.

Then again most of it can be sorted with enb.

Cheers, hope it helps in some way.

relax, i use a modified weather plugin, plus enb, so when i turn them both off, the game is actually a little

darker than morrowind

and these screenshots you posted is a heavily modified morrowind setup, with modified

color palette, we need to compare against original morrowind, and thats what im doing slowly but steady. ;)

I wanted to propose smth regarding the skywind atmosphere. From what i recall vvanderfell was mostly an arid space with little to no vegetation in some areas, so i was thinking that in order to compensate the lack of vegetation you can do some sort of particle fx for dusty terrain. You can use a similar the effect like falling leafs in the wind for dust particles on the ground.

There are desolate areas, but Vvardenfell is in fact highly volcanic. The rich soil allows plant life to grow back denser than before- or in Morrowind's case, mostly fungal life. There are many lush areas to compliment its desolate ones.

I agree but those make the world very static imo compared to a Skyrim Flaura Overhault Environment. The dust_particlesfx might be just the dinamic element that is missing. I remember Morrodind didn't have smth like that but Skyrim engine supports things like that. On ytb there are some preety examples.

Morrowind had Ash storms and with mods there are things like falling leaves from trees that blow in the wind, spores that blow in the wind, flying insect life.

Mods are also available to add chimneys complete with animated smoke coming out of them, sprouts with animated water, better weather systems for rain and snow, etc.

Plus the plants and trees themselves can sway with the wind.

Hi. First time posting on the forum.

Here are a few I snapped recently (stock Morrowind) that I thought were fairly typical and indicative of the aesthetic that we've grown to love over the years.

Sorry about the size.

I agree, even though I love looking far out over Morrowind, I believe we should have fog, at least on the horizon, to keep that "magical" classic Morrowind feeling.

So, my two cents, keep the awesome far draw distance of the engine, but have fog visible at all times far in the background.

Then at times, there should obviously be fog close in, such as around the coast.

The fog in Morrowind is kinda like the fog in Silent Hill. Remove it, and things look.... different, sometimes different for the worse. Without the fog you just realize just how small Vvardenfell really is. I guess if people don't want the fog, they can remove it anyway.

Yeah, I actually reduced the draw distance for the LOD from MGE.  Far enough that you can see quite a ways, but close enough that things still appear suddenly in the fog.  Even if those things are 10 cells away.....

The good news is that there is already a good mod that handles fog in Skyrim. The volumetric fog i thing it's called. The authors experience in dealing with fog might be helpful in recreating the right Vvanderfell experience.
