Textures wont copy...

Submitted by Didact1 on
Ok I've downloaded some new textures for Morrowind recently and I decided that I want to use them for Morroblivion... I re-converted everything using ESP converter yet the textures remain the same as the original... it worked on my other computer but for some reason it didnt this time, the textures are simply a matter of copying them to the textures folder.... any reasons why? id appreciate your help :)

That is because the esp-converter does not over-write files. If something already exists ... it will simply be ignored. 1) Make sure you have copied the new textures to your Morrowind installation. Morrowind\Data\Textures\ 2) Then in the Oblivion installation you need to manually delete the old morroblivion textures, in Oblivion\Data\Textures\morro ... In fact search the texture folder for the name "morro" ... and delete all folders which come up. 3) Next simply re-convert using the esp-converter.

Well I did exactly what you instructed and it sorta worked, except all the textures are now pink XD I must have did something wrong right? I deleted "morro." folder from this directory: Data/Textures/Morro and deleted the folder itself actually.... I made sure the new textures for Morrowind were in Textures folder... then i reconverted, didnt turn out well, gosh i hate pink :(

Pink is caused by missing textures. You might have done something wrong. Anyways, I would delete every "morro" folder in your oblivion directory directory and reconvert. (use the "search" application) Also delete morrowind_ob.esm Remember, you need to install the texture pack to Morrowind as usual, not copy it to Oblivion.

Alright I'll try that now... Also are missing meshes common? In several Dwemer ruins i find some hallways missing, would reconverting fix them?

I have'nt ever been to dwemer halls :p Anyways if a mesh is missing it will not likely get fixed by just reconverting ...

Well it sorta did and didnt, at first it was displaying the default "missing mesh" thing reconverting it made it a small box, i think it couldnt recognise it since it was an activator... anyway i just "edited" the Dwemer halls by altering the halls (with careful and frustrating work)....

What was the ID of the missing mesh in the construction set ? Hallways are statics ... they usually convert just fine.

I understand that not everything will function properly either like enchantments, scripts and other visual effects.... only recently i had to add the enchantments to most of the clothing of Morrowind again :S not fun... lol also there arent any rings from morrowind :P anyway heres the ID WorldObjects/Activator/Morro 0inUdwrvUcorr2U07 also remember steam engines in Dwemer ruins? they're gone too :P
