Finishing?

Submitted by Myusha on

I understand the big hype of Skyrim and it's grahpic engines, how old Oblivion is, and how long this project's been going. And as of it's current state, it's absolutely fantastic. But I have a concern in this.

Will Morroblivion ever be finished? Will we get the Tribunal finished? Ever since a year ago, I've been eagerly waiting for that questline to be finished, but it seems it may never happen. And as happy as I am for Skywind's developments, Oblivion is MOD CENTRAL with almost ENDLESS CONTENT! Morroblivion was one of my favorites, becoming Neveraine and all, buying Morrowind and it's expansions just for Morroblivion but I've rarely seen progress.

Mind you, there was a version released within a week or two ago, but I'm hoping for a rough estimate of the Tribunal Questline being finished. Whether it be two years from now, or tomorrow, I'd appreciate any response. And sorry if this seems immature to ask, but I'm curious.

Hi. I'm slowly but steadily debugging both expansions - and now I'm debugging the East Empire questline first. Tribunal will come afterwards because the fabricants and some Sotha Sil animated meshes have yet to be ported over.

Most likely it will be done within a year or two - but I don't have a reliable ETA yet. I have my own mod projects and my life is pretty busy so any little time I have is spent on Bloodmoon at the moment.

But it's definitely being done so Morroblivion is far from being dead.

PS. Skywind and Skyblivion have problems with the master files so it's not going so smoothly as it seems.

There is no real way to answer any of your questions. Maybe it's time to start learning how to use the Construction Set yourself so that you can help us rather than hoping that we don't all lose our enthusiasm before the project is "Finished."

Tried once to use the construction set. Seemed too complex for me to manage, and almost broke my game trying. But I'm glad to know that, if the progress keeps it's current rate, Morroblivion will be finished soon. Another year or two's not all that bad. Sides, I wasn't hoping you didn't lose enthusiam or anything up in that post. Just seemed like the project might've been going slower, due to problems I'm unaware of and Skywind/Skybilivion's development potentially dividing programmers' times.

Still here's a thanks for all you do, and have done and hoping good luck comes your way if you need any!

There are a lot of tutorials in the Morroblivion FAQ that can help you get started on contributing to the project. Both Dave B and I started with no knowledge at all of Oblivion Modding. If you have the patience to read read read and watch tutorial videos, etc. you can learn it.

Hi, Myusha!

Like Thermador said there's lots of help out there, but it can be overwhelming. My advice would be to just pick one small thing you'd like to learn how to do at a time. I know it's intimidating, especially when you've had a bad experience using the CS before, but don't let that stop you!

I had no idea how to do a thing with Oblivion modding until probably a year ago and I've been playing for five. First thing I learned how to do was modify AI in the construction set because I noticed Morroblivion master trainers were not all offering their services correctly. Was surprised how much help was out there and in just a little bit of time was able to fix my problem and share it with others.

It's really a drop in the ocean compared to what others have done for this project, but that's still a few hours that saved one of the hardcore developers from having to bother with! ;)

Baby steps, but I'm going to see what I can do next. I'm looking into what little piece of Tribunal I can help right now, so if you want to work with me on it I'd be glad to team up! Just send me a message.

Best regards,

Jessica

I'm doing Tribunal after I finish Bloodmoon (and progress on it is slow at the moment). Oblivionising scripts written for Morrowind is certainly interesting. :)

I knew nothing about modding in the CS about six months back [DaveB will verify this],then I put together a mod that added more beasts to the morroblivion land [it still needs work],and now am working on the Skywind team trying to get the master stable.

The point is that I am still only a very new modder [noob],but every litttle helps,so use the CS,it will be a pain sometimes but it can also be fun!.
