Upcoming Skyrim DLC #3

Submitted by Josie on

Have you guys heard the rumors concerning the third DLC for skyrim? Here's something I pasted from

http://www.ibtimes.com/new-skyrim-dlc-release-after-hearthfire-may-be-dragonborn-allegedly-leaked-files-found-18-patch

"Little information is known on this alleged DLC, but evidence indicates that it could take players back to Morrowind, according to the Official Xbox Magazine UK.  Quest markers for Solstheim, Telvanni, Castle Karstaag, Raven Rock and Miraak Temple have allegedly been discovered alongside what appears to be new armor entries. These include Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim, and files for dragon-riding animations also appeared in the 1.8 update."

If it happened to be true that the upcoming DLC would feature Morrowind/Solstheim content, then perhaps we should wait on it before creating certain places and items etc..? Apparently there's even models for morrowind enemies such as the netch. I have no idea what this really means though, perhaps they're just trying to fool around with us. :P

Soundtracks? Those are the least of my excitements.  :)

The uesp articles on Dragonborn are pretty much empty, but I'm already seeing a lot of good stuff we can use like....

SPOILERS

Netch and Ash Hoppers (which are really just scribs) plus their associated drops, Ash Yams, All of your favorite Morrowind drinks (Flin, Matze, Sujamma, and Shein), Chitin, bonemold, and stalhrim armors (though we already knew about these), plus some Morag Tong armor, Scathecraw, and who knows what else!

Bethesda really helped us out with this one, now if only it would come out on PC....

I have Skyrim on Xbox as well and I've finished the Dragonborn dlc. To be honest I expected a longer storyline, I didn't rush it THAT fast. Did a fair bit of side quests and all... I also expected more oomph/punch in the storyline, sure its interesting.. But.. Meh I expected more.

Quite a bit of changes to the original Solstheim. The same layout of ruins annoy me though. Ruins were completely different in Bloodmoon. Wished they were at least similar/same instead of being typical Skyrim ones. The land seems a little empty, expected.. Due to Red Mountain.. I still feel some things should have remained the same..

Anyway that's enough of me. There's a fair bit of Morrowind goodies we can reap once the PC version comes out.. of which I'll do a proper playthrough no rush on my Skyrim PC.

And yes it does add NEW tracks BUUUUT! *Drumroll* It adds Morrowind music back in..

The same exact tracks? That just sounds lazy. Also how are the spears?

I havent tried the spears.. I spoke to the little fetchers aka rieklings.. I won't spoil much about them too but if you want me too let me know ;)...

Rieklings look like goblins.. I prefer their bearded selves like in Bloodmoon.

What I want to know if if those leaks were true.  I mean really, why in the world would they include spears, just to make them only usable as arrows?  Especially after game jam where they showed a completed set of player spear animations.

- Riekling Spears are arrows.
- Many familiar locations such as Hrothmund's Barrow, Bloodskall Barrow are not the same and have been expanded.

- Castle Karstaag is not so impressive. You'll see... Though you'll meet karstaag.. Well maybe not meet, you'll find him.

- General Carius makes a surprising appearance.
- An old face from Morrowind makes an appearance. A Telvanni wizard. Can you guess?
- Raven Rock... No longer recognisable by its former self. Where's my estate house?
- Skaal Village.. Different, again.
- Chitin, Bonemold and Ice Armor (I forgot how to spell it, too lazy to look it up) makes an appearance.

- The actual main storyline is more forced and linear... Hated that.

- Vivec (The City) is destroyed. That's depressing... There's a FAIR BIT of Morrowind references too. Solstheim is a part of Morrowind now.

Yes the Strider is in the DLC, at a Telvanni settlement :)

All the tracks from morrowind are in the dragonborn dlc!! :))

Except for Nerevar Rising.

I heard dragon riding was pretty bad and was just like pick an enemy to attack while on cruse control. I hope this isn't true. Is it?

Well, if it is then I guess i'll just have to wait untill modders put bethesda's dragon riding to shame

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But... meh... Hopefully I'll like more then dawnguard because that dlc...

Well Beth effed up mounted combat in two games in a row. Doesn't surprise me that they would put the dragon in cruise control.

Unfortunately it is true. It is cruise control. You can shout though from your dragon...

The controls for the Xbox were very awkward and it took time to get used to it.. Actually I never got used to it. Just watched my character on-screen riding a dragon and it was doing most of the work. Camera following the dragon was terrible while in combat.

A huge dissapointment on that part. Though better than nothing.

Silt Strider video proof.

Its the only one in the DLC.

The problem is its no creature, but probably a static animated object.

Converting that thing into a fully working and mountable creature is doable but hard.

Is it just me or does this dlc feel a bit rushed and lazy? I mean dragon on cruise control, copy and pasted sound effects/music. Short storyline that isn't great. Even the Silt Strider doesn't look that great. The Silt Strider the guy was working on looked better.

The mushrooms do look neat though.

The missing ass storm on the global map, there only normal clouds not even ass clouds.

I do feel it is rushed. Especially the land itself. Sure sure I know its become more hostile, empty etc due to Red Mountain but I expected more detail put into the world itself.
- MANY of the original barrows have been redesigned OR removed. I think they should have maintained the original design of the Bloodmoon barrows. I feel as though Nordic culture there resembled more of a Norsic, ritual, animal feel..
- Cave of Hidden Music and The Snow Princes' Tomb are gone. Even Brodir's Grove, the cave is gone.

- Raven Rock should have had more ruins or structural remnants of its previous incarnation.
- Tel Mythrian should have had more.
- Castle Karstaag, biiig dissapointment as I have stated.
- Frostmoth could've had more.
- Dragon riding was a huge dissapointment as we all know.
- DLC main quest was far too short. I expected... "More". End Battle was a dissapointment. The 'linear' and 'forced' nature of the DLC main quest annoyed me.

Anyway I'm done complaining though some of the quests are fun.

On a side note, I plan on reintroducing some of the barrows from Bloodmoon when the DLC comes out for the PC version. I did rush the playthough for the Xbox.. but for PC I'm taking it nice and slow.

Hopefully we can take it for a walk in the park one day!

The article says not to take the quote to heart but it does seem to nods in impressions in the game. And apparetly Draonborn was specifically made to reproduce other prvences in skyrim and for modders to take advantage of were bears.  Honestly Im excited for the elf war DLC might be able to get out of the provinc.  As for the nord history I have my fgures crossed for high rock expansion as the forsworn are part of the nord problem.

Let us only hope this is the truth:
"Werebears are another thing that frustrated him, though not as much. Werebears were put into the game as a treat for modders. In fact, much of the Dragonborn expansion was added in for the sake of the modders, and they fully expect mods to recreate Morrowind and Oblivion once all DLC is released."

Thanks for the article, Protectorcrimson!

I saw this too, my first thought was "How do they know this?" Did Bethesda downright say they expect it once all the DLC is released? So they do want us to.

Speaking of DLC:

Here are 2 more paid DLC expansions planned - both of them true expansions like Dragonborn (one is a bit smaller, one is larger). Without giving a lot away, the next DLC will explore the beginnings of the Nords and Skyrim's culture, as well as the Snow Elves and yes, even the Dwarves. The last DLC will involve the choosing of a new King of Skyrim and the war against the elves.

Don't know how these next 2 DLC's could possiblt help us if they are focused on Skyrim. Still, it was really helpful to get a Solstheim DLC.

Yeah, Werebears are in the new DLC, you can summon one with a scroll I think. We so gotta add them to Solstheim! I don't even care if they weren't in the original game, they should have been in it.

I highly doubt these dlc's are real in any way, and I would really hate to see a dlc in which you fight the thalmor(it would cause problems with existing quests like "missing in action" not only that the thalmor seem to dangerous for just a 10-15 hour dlc. no nation in tamriel can defeat them. Sure maybe if conditions are right the nords can pust them out of skyrim but they can never really stop them . it would take a whole game to defeat the thalmor)

The picking a new high king of skyrim dosen't follow either (think about it If the empire wins elisif(or however you spell her name) becomes high queen. if the stormcloaks win ulfric becomes high king.

Then there's the one about skyrim's past. and honestly that seems kinda boring I'm not intrested in seeing what bethesda does with ancient races anymore because they really messed up snow elves with dawnguard( they appear way to late and become the main point of what is probably the longest quest in all of skyrim. not only that, there aren't even mentioned in the dlc before they become that important. to me they felt out of place.) and  it would be a very bad idea to fix something from one dlc in another. (just seems like a way to get more money...If you buy this one then you gotta get this one.) I also don't think spears will be fixed in another dlc because once again that seems like a way to trick people in to buying multiple dlcs and I think bethesda is in a bad enough situation with dlcs.(none on the ps3 yet meaning that if the fix for one dlc is in the next ps3 gamers may not ever get to experience the fullness of skyrim).

anyway. bethesda has already said it's not true but from the stand point of bethesda if they were to say it's all fake that would clip their wings. If someone said bethesda if working the ps3 and abunch of fake stuff then bethesda saying thats not true means bethesda doesn't even care about ps3 gamer anymore.

The only part about the post concerning future development I believe is the part where he says they will be a April 1st update that reaches back to one of their previous games and proves that they aren't above making fun of themselves.

That probably a update that add a famous glitch from a prevous game to skyrim(something like how in morrowind you have the attack something 50 time to get one hit in.)

Anyway most elder scroll game have 2 major dlcs and a wouldn't expect skyrim to be any different.

Bethsda has strongly hinted that they will have more DLC after Dragonborn. Honetly I would like to have one more. As for the DLC ideas, it seems to me that the two are to similar and might be part of the same dlc.  As for the thalmor it might be that the Dragonborn would go to a nighboring province (not all of it), I was thinking high rock as skyrim is VERY far away from shimiring isle.  Why would that be a problem for the main quest at the point of the civil war all that really remains is the embasy if you settle with the stormcloaks as far as I know and the north point fort quest could just have a automatic completion kick in. (always thoguht it was wierd that the volkahar castle was placed so close to it).

I think there might be another dlc coming but not a major one like Dragonborn. I also don't think another dlc that has to do with the politics of skyrim is a good idea the ending for the civil war quest line are completly different and would need different questlines and like dawnguard the questline would end up being just the same with an enemy palete change. Or somthing like faction 1 get spears, fation 2 get assult rifles(but they're the bad guys), Like in dawnguard(dawnguard get crossbows. vampires get crossbows and vampire lords). If they do make another dlc with mutple questlines I hope you can start the quest line by joining the faction not by joining a faction then leaving and joining the other one because dawnguard was kinda ironic.( dawnguard initiate becomes vampire and kills all dawnguard).

I could see a dlc to highrock Because the of the adimitine tower ( if the thalmor remove the zero stone from it they can cause human to cease to exist.( which is their main goal) but I would rather see that in a whole game rather then a dlc( they can always put a lot more detail in a whole game rather then a dlc. (and that mean that means a better story)

There is a exploit if you become a vampire and have max illusion and cast harmoney you can get cross bows and steel bots, as well as the sun fire spells if you side with them. All in all I like the dawngaurd side more I can live without the vampire perk items.

It would be a shame, if they will delay next add-on for PS3 and PC, again.
