I'm new here and want to help

Submitted by Ducky on
Hi all, I'm new to this forum, which I found a while ago when I was looking for mods which put things from Morrowind into Oblivion. I really loved Morrowind and was somehow disappointed when Oblivion came out. I felt that it lacked the atmosphere and the environment which I loved in it's predessecorm but Morrowind hadn't the nice graphics of Oblivion either. But when i found this site and tried out Morroblivion I was stunned at first but then I noticed that many things were missing or bugged which didn't make it much enjoyable. That's why I have registered I want to help your project to recreate the old Morrowind in Oblivion. Since there are many things which have to be done and as I read through the forums I completely lost the overview of what still has to be done, what's finished or what's wip. Also I don't have real modding skills, I only have a basic knowledge of the cs. But I really want to you with this project and I'm also having a lot of freetime by now in which I could learn thins about the cs or some modding. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if a modding noob like me is able to help you and if I'm able to help you, please tell me what I can do. Oh, and please excuse my bad grammar, I'm not a native english speaking person :) Greetings Ducky

Add oblivion clothing meshes to Morroblivion clothing ID's and release that as a plugin.

ok, shall I do this with all clothing or are there any exceptions and I guess I should use the meshes made by bethesda ? And before I do this I would like to make a new reconversion, should I use your ini's I've seen on the forum or is it better to use the standard ini's ?

"shall I do this with all clothing or are there any exceptions" All the clothing, but maybe you want to leave out the robes for now. "I guess I should use the meshes made by bethesda" Yes, Cyrodil\Oblivion Meshes made by bethesda. "And before I do this I would like to make a new reconversion, should I use your ini's I've seen on the forum or is it better to use the standard ini's ?" Use the standard conversion. The objective of this plugin is to make a clothing replacer which does not rely on changing the conversion process (unlike the Morroblivion Object Replacer). If we make it a plugin then we won't get naked NPCs with AI and quest mods.

When I wanted to save the plugin before I began to work on it, my CS crashed. Luckily I hadn't started to work on it yet, but what I recognized is that the CS crashes every time I want to make a mod which depends on the morrowind_ob.esm. I already tried out different esms which aren't related to morroblivion and the save progress seems to work fine when using them. But as soon as I load the morrowind_ob.esm the CS crashes when I try to save my plugin. Have I done something wrong during the conversion or by what is this caused ? Could this happen cause I'm using a converted esm of the german Morrowind version ?

I have no idea ... though the german thing could be causing the problem. Edit: Though I dont really think that it should ... Can't you find the english version in the market? Make sure you have the latest verison of the CS.

Well, then I will take at look at the market if I can find one. And yes, I have the latest version of the CS Is there anything else I can do until I am able to get an english version ?

Hmmm ... which operating system are you using ... I've heard of CS crashes in Vista ... though that should probably happen with normal mods as well. Also make sure your mod loads\depends upon both Oblivion.esm and Morrowind_ob.esm and only these two ... do not make it dependent on any other mod or master file. Other than that I can't think of anything :(

I'm using luckily using windows xp. And yes, I only made it dependend on those 2 esms. But I'm beginning to think that my Cs is a bit messed up, cause after I reconverted and tried to save an esp again, my Cs doesn't crash, rather that it doesn't even react anymore. I just have the symbol that I've changed something but I can't save cause no esp is created. Probably I'll try to do a reinstallation of the cs this evening and if this doesn't work I'm going to make a clean Oblivion installation.

Ok, I'm completly clueless what causes this, even a complete reinstall hasn't solved my problem. But on some german forums I read that many users which converted a german morrowind version had this problems. Sadly the threads where all already around one year old and no one ever found a solution or a reason for this problem. So now I'll try to get a english morrowind version which will hoepfully solve my problem. I just downloaded and installed the omod version of Morroblivin I read about and with this one I can even edit and save things in the cs Oo As it seems now I'm nearly 100 percent sure the errors are caused by the german version. But to be sure, can someone please tell me if there is anything special about that Morrowind_ob.esm ? I've already seen there aren't all the clothes avaible in the cs and I also don't get any erros when loading it up in the cs.

The OMOD version of Morroblivion shared online in this website: http://morroblivionfull.blogspot.com/ Has some issues, is mostly for playing than for modding, since you cannot use the ESP Converter with this one. I will not recommend you to use for the purpouses of modding MO, now, about helping you can either upload your plugins allowing other people to merge it into a more massive modding compilation for this mod, or maybe you can add to the current teams. Forget about MOTF, that was a project that I had in mind a while back, but anyone can do what they can with the mod. If you really lack modding experience, I highly recommend you to start with A Begginer's Guide, in the official site of the Construction Set: cs.elderscrolls.com That will also make you aware if you really want to get into modding or not. Hugs, David Wolf. ;)
