[solved] Random Crashes and speeding texts

Submitted by Cablefish on

Okay. So i followed the instructions as given by the Complete Installation Guide: http://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/2173

Just to be sure i used no mods other than the ones included in it. I was playing fine for a while until i started to running into random crashes. It cold be opening the journal, talking to people or just entering new areas.

Looking in the FAQ i found that my problem looked like a cell buffer overflow so i installed the Purge Cell Buffers mod that looked like it'd help me there. This solved my crash problems however the text in game started speeding by in less approximately two seconds. This hadn't been a problem before. Reading up on the documentation on the Purge Cell Buffer mod i read that this was a consequence of activating purge on every cell change. This however is specifically what your FAQ suggest. And sure enough. When activating the "On loading screen" version of the cell buffer mod and loading an earlier savegame the game started crashing again and seemingly random times.

So it would seem that i have to play the game with text speeding by faster than i can read it OR playing a game with random crashes every two minutes. So i really hope that I'm doing something else wrong. I dont know much about modding or load orders.

My load order:

0:Oblvion.esm
1:Morrowind_ob.esm
2:UOPS Additional Changes.esp
3:DLCShiveringIsles.esp
4:Unofficial Oblivion Patch.eps
5:Morrowind_ob - Morroblivion maps.esp
6:Morrowind_ob - Conversation.esp
7:Morrowind_ob - UCWUS.esp
8:Morrowind_ob - Morroblivion water.esp
9:Morrowind_ob - Faction Relations.esp
10:Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp
11:Morrowind_ob - ClothingReplacer.esp
12:Morrowind_ob - Silt Striders.esp
13:Morrowind_ob - Morroblivion_Chargen_And_Transport_mod_v10.esp
14:Bashed Patch. 0.esp
15-16: The two versions of the purge Cell Buffers.

Edit: Ok so i realized the problem was tied to whether or not i used the OBSE loader for the game. Something the TESNexus refuses while the Wrye Bash does this. This at least solved the problem of the text staying still for only two seconds. Now i can do some serious testing to see if the Cell Buffer Purger removes all the crashes :) Thanks for all the replies!

I do have the Elys Silent Voice installed. Something is reducing the silent MP3 to about two seconds of silence. The problem persists even though i restart the game and disabling the purge cell buffer mod.

Can something else affect the Elys Silent Voice thing?

Are you running your game from OBSE Shortcut

I hit the same conclusion around the same time you posted it. Thanks Roxon_55 :) Now the silent voice at least works and i know why :)

You will not remove all the Crashes all you can try for Is LESS

Still (WIP) Give them time

Files in Document do Help to get Less Crashes

Have a look at S.B audio files they are done Well it is good to Morrowind Talk

Well today i played for more than an hour without a crash. It sure did help to use the correct files from the correct launcher. Wrye Bash and OBSE loader.

I'll start compiling a new thread with 'real' bugs i find that are not just caused by my failing to use the right programs.
