didn't daggerfall use 2d sprites? i know arena did, so that would look pretty goofy in oblivion.. actually the whole thing would probably end up being the original graphics with the new ui.. kidnda pointless, am i wrong?

everything would be like 2-d except the people and you wouldnt have a map because I am pretty sure that all of the area in tha game wasnt solid but it was just a bunch of randomly generated cells so that possibility is really off the radar right now

i think battle spire was 3d

Arena land was randomly generated (generated randomly each game)if I'm not mistaken, so there's no way to convert that. Daggerfall was procedurally generated (generated randomly once), so it would be possible with a lot of effort. Still, it would be pointless to convert all of it. Seriously - go out, get Daggerfall, and try to walk from the start dungeon to Daggerfall city without fast travel. It took me about a week just to get a third of the way, after which it was just too repetitive to keep going. Of course, it'd sure be cool to just convert the memorable places like Wayrest and Sentinal, then plop them in a procedurally generated Oblivion landscape, but first you'd need meshes - and a lot of them - to make it look playable. Oh, well. *dreams*

It would be awesome to have the other elder scrolls games incorporated with this. I've always dreamed of a complete Tamriel, but like they said with the 2d and the random generation of cells it would be hard to convert. It seems more likely to just do a rebuild then a conversion but that would be more difficult than fixing the Morroblivion conversion so that probably isn't going to happen either

Conversion from the old games is highly unlikely. Because of the 2D graphics almost every asset would have to be made from scratch just working off of an image of the items and things. The landscape would be relatively easy by comparrison though if my understanding of the Tamriel height map project is correct but it would take an incredible amount of time to actually add in just the main features like cities, let alone all the little side bits like caves and dungeons and such. Would be amazing but not likely to ever happen.

the older games are definitely not going to happen.

  • they have no recourses that can be used for a new game.
  • arena and Dagerfall use randomly generated land.
  • There's nothing that can be converted from the old games
  • Dagerfall WAAAYYY too big.
