Oblivion Mods with Skyblivion?

Submitted by Twisted Texan on

Simple question, will I be able to play Oblivion based mods through Skyblivion or is it going to be impossible?

That's actually going to be one of the things that'll make Oblivion tougher to convert over than Morrowind. Morrowind vanilla is fine, Oblivion vanilla is, well, I think you know what's it like. Converting will probably be possible, but we'll also require permission for converting the mods over.

Hello Oblivion Mod Author,

Can we convert your mod over to the Skyrim engine, so that you may see it in its glory again?

Hello Skyblivion Team,

That won't work with every mod author. Keep in mind some people in the modding community hate us, and think of us as the scum of the earth.

Hello Oblivion Mod Author....

----------------------------------------------------------

Skyblivion "Devil" Team,

My mod was created as a pure Oblivion experience!! How dare you consider porting my creation into such a tainted engine as Skyrim, with your tainted project!

As you cannot post information on the bible...I mean Bethesda forums, it means that I must do everything to distance myself from you. I don't know why, but it must be bad because...well it just must be.

I've asked a couple people if I could convert their mod to skyrim, all of them except one said I could. The one that wouldn't let me convert his mod said he was planing to convert it himself. I haven't converted any mod yet, most of the time I just end up recreating them from scratch.

Example: I could have converted this mod

But I ended up just recreating it

My version is rotated off but 1 degree( you can tell if you look at the stone block that connects the main tower with the on to the right) , and the center tower is slightly smaller

Or this:[External image]

My version is textured differently from the original

Well I really wanted to see a port of Claudias Little Secret and I just talked to the creator Grumpf about having permission for myself or someone else to try and make his mod work on Skyblivion.  He replied saying...

Sure if someone wants. I doubt it'll be that easy though... It also depends on how those guys are going to deal with it...

So he is ok with us trying to make it work with Skyblivion even though he is a little leery that it can actually be done.  I would love to see this mod in Skyblivion when a Beta version of Skyblivion is released.  I don't really know a whole lot about modding but I went ahead and asked Grumpf for permission hoping someone on these forms might be up for the task of trying to make it work on here.

Well in the near future when our devs are finished fixing up the important programs that we desperately need, work will begin on a Morrowind/Oblivion to Skyrim converter, and we'll see what will be convertable.

Converting Oblivion mods to Skyrim in a semi-automatic manner is going to be really hard. Just to make sure people know that its a long way off becoming a realization.

Yeah, obviously I don't expect it t be overnight.  I was just curious about whether or not it would even be possible.

Our converter is a series of scripts for TESEdit.  It would be possible to modify them to make it a simple two or three step process. But we'd need someone experienced in Pascal to do it, and I'm not sure whether or not Zilav is up to the task.
