Morrowind Height Map

Submitted by Hovercat on

Dear Skywind Community

First of; I'd like to say that I love the work you've been doing, and Morroblivion has given Morrowind and amazing revival for me.

I'm a modder working on a minor hobby-project. Like you, I'm deeply in love with Morrowind, so my idea is basically to choose a minor island from Vvardenfell, and then let the player revisit it in Skyrim - 200 years after the events of TES3.

For that I'm looking for a height map for Morrowind, and I suspect that you guys might have it, and maybe would be willing to share? I'm gonna reshape it quite a lot, but It would be a great help, starting from an already excisting height map.

Any help would be greatly appriciated :)

There is already big project of rebuilding all provinces in 4th era called Beyond Skyrim, they have a huge heightmap for entire Tamriel. You'd better join a team redoing Morrowind

Skywind doesn't have heightmap, it is a direct reconversion of plugin files Morrowind -> Oblivion -> Skyrim and takes place in 3rd era.

Thank you for the advice. I do not wish to be a part of a big team, since my working scheldue is way to unreliable. :)

I am aware what Skywind and Oblivion is and isn't. I was merely trying to ask if any of you guys had had a height map of Morrowind, knew how to get my hands on one or knew how to make one easily, thereby saving myself a tremendous amount of work. :)

Thanks a lot. I'll convert that one to Skyrim.

I don't know how I have overlooked that one. Must have been the oblivion tag that made me skip it on google. Embarrassing :/

:)

Cheers

It seems this mod is dirty or the plugin converter is buggy. Conclusion is that the mod apparently can't be converted. I've cleaned it with TES4edit but no cigar.

From what I can read in this thread, by a guy with the excact same problem, you also had the problem with Skywind? Can I please ask how you solved it? :)

Best regards

I was using the old way to convert it back then. I believe zilav has some scripts for tesvedit that can convert it but I'm not sure. Skywind currently was converted the "tesvedit" way so I'm not sure how (or if )it can be converted. of course you can use other programs to insert the heightmap (even the creation kit has that function) well... as long as you have a picture).

I would also like to see the heightmap for main land morrowind (at least for immersion purposes)

Unfortunately it wasn't a "real" height map I found, but rather and empty .esp with the landsmasses in.The perfect thing would be a real height map which I could import into the creation kit myself.

The point being: I lack the picture of the height map :) And yes, the height map of the Main land would be great to.

Thank you for the link, but I don't think they intend on sharing. And their height map, is not the Morrowind height map. It's a custom one, made for their mod specifically. :)

But thank you still

I've now spend a couple of hours trying to get TesAnnwyn to behave.

I've tried on different computer, different Photoshop plugins, different versions of TesAnnwyn but I keep getting something like the attached file, which off course isn't very efficient to generate landscape from.

Any suggestions?

I think I still have a heightmap (as in picture) of all of tamriel if you want it. I was trying to edit the world space of cyrodiil to include all tamriel. it's not the best because vvardenfell is scaled to it's size in morrowind which make morrowind the largest province instead of cyrodiil.

Hi Supreme

I don't think that's gonna do it, unfortunately. It would be scaled a lot, and I'm only gonna use a small part of it. :(

But thanks a bunch for your answer and offer :)
