the bethesda is against morroblivion thing

Submitted by The_Gunslinger on
ok im confused bethesda wont let morroblivion mods on there official forums but by law people are still allowed to make them be cause there not selling there mods, but bethesda is against all mention of morroblivion and makes other TES site be against it to. now i was told its "un ethical for anyone who doesnt own morrowind to use the meshes/textures" yet i own a copy of morrowind and tribunal/bloodmoon that i paid for, am i allowed to make and release mods for it? im really confused on all this... am i not allowed to release mods with morrowind meshes and textures just because other people MIGHT (emphasis on might) not own a copy hows that fair to me? idk i just think its all kinda messed up O.o

Bethesda is clear on the matter:
Matt Grandstaff Essentially, we let folks mod our games like Morrowind or Oblivion, but we don’t allow for folks to take content from another game and put it into a new game – even if they own both copies, and even if it's one of our own games. Matt Grandstaff Source
Additionally as eloth said it is illegal to put morrowind meshes\textures under the brand of "Oblivion Mod" ... although it is legal to put the same stuff under the brand of "Morrowind Mod". So for example the creature meshes are legal to be uploaded under the "Morrowind" section of TESnexus but it is illegal to upload the exact same files under the "Oblivion" section of the site. ^ Conclusion: Bethesda is crazy ... ;)

Its all a sickening bureaucracy. Lol at his name, Grandstaff, though. Oh I ''Lol'' at such lame things.

yea i get that bethesda is completely money grubbing... but strangely enought there hasnt been anyone sent to jail for any of this (being that noone has actually sold any of it XD) the way i see it is that bethesda wants money from people modding this stuff because they cant believe they didnt do it themselves... heck if they have such a problem with it why do they just make this mod (morroblivion) a completely fixed (without any of the little glitches that everyone here is fixing) DLC for this game it would be amazing i mean id buy a copy.............. in conclusion they have no idea wat there doing wen it comes to morroblivion

There's a simple solution for this: replace all the offending meshes and textures with custom-made ones. I'd think this would be needed anyway in order to make the graphics up to standard with Oblivion. There are already graphics replacement mods that could be used instead of the original Morrowind graphics. You can find a list of them here: http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html See? Problem solved.
