Also, unless you can also model and UV in 3dsmax, bake and texture also, creating any creature in zbrush (and not even colouring it) isnt really helping.
You're just creating a 4 million polygon shape that cant be used.

true, the other 2/3rds of the pipeline has to come after, sculpting and painting in zbrush is 1/3 of the process.
It can work if the new zbrushers dont mind their work taken and modified for the game.

They have a $700 program without a trial. That's ridiculous.
it is a bit, it caused problems for us at uni.
they used to do demos.
Try sculptris. Its free, from that link i sent u. its very similar, but works with triangles instead. you'll learn the basics of sculptng.
