Donations for the Project

Submitted by Predator00747 on

Hi there, I have admired the morrowind remake projects since morroblivion in alpha state. I am very excited about skywind as playing the dragon born DLC has made me want to return to morrowind :D

I strongly believe that you should make a donations form for people to help you if they would like as I am certain people would love to help you financially.

Thanks :D

I am aware that for legal reasons you cannot accept funding that results in a profit but if you can prove that all donations are being used on the project then you should be fine :D

I am keen to help out with the project but for legal reasons I cannot assist an any development as I am a producer at a game development company and I can't work on any projects outside the company

I don't see what's wrong with accepting donations. Other mod websites have options to donate to the modder.

I don't know if there are any legal ramifications, its like any kick-starter project, if you want to see the game then hit this $ amount and we will promise you a mod.

But this is not how this project works, we would prefer than rather than money that you give us your precious time. And it works! Big shout out for all the helpers :)

That is a strange one to have in your contract?! This is just a fan based mod, that should be in no way competition to anything...unless you work at Bethesda or Zenimax...is there something you should tell us? :-P

Are you allowed to play and report bugs / design ideas in other games?  Because that's valuable too, and if you're a pro you certainly know a thing or two about this. (how's that for a contract loophole!)

I would have to ask my director but I don't believe that I can work on anyone else's IP because there is no way I can prove that this project won't be come a profit organization or any such thing without you being binded in a contract saying it will never be for profit.

As for where i work... If i told you, id have to kill you :P

I will see what can be done about helping out, I would love to get on board with this project and become a major part of it.

I may be able to be an unofficial producer for your project in my spare time :)

Who is/are the lead( s ) on this project?

nothing

And this project will never be for profit it's illegal for us to make a profit from it

I understand that it is illegal to make a profit from it, however Bethesda may approach you and make a deal with you, everything is possible and businesses like to cover their asses for any possible event.

How is all the work compiled into the BSA for skywind? there must be one person compiling everything that is submitted.

Never thought about that, ya last time I checked ironman12345 was putting everything together, not sure if he put it into bsa yet though we're still changing too much stuff, although I'm not sure he might have

To put the record straight,I am not making any bsa`s,and am also not producing any master[s],at this time that is being done by other members of the team [which is purely a fan based team],I am just helping out with collecting work done and some other things.

IMO,the only real way to donate to this project would be to help with the jobs that need doing, money does not enter the mix here as like i said we are a fan based community.

Ok thanks,

I will have a look at the tasks that need doing at the moment. My director has said that in this case its fine for me to take part in the project.

Any idea on how far through the project is so far? Obviously I know its hard to gage where your at now but maybe an estimate? (percentage, time, version number?)

Just wondering how close to 1.0.0 we are :)

Thanks

I would expect a playable release (no guaranteed or random crashes in essential places, full working main quest and necessary amount of side quests scripted, all creatures having correct models/animations/AI, no broken necessary items) in somewhere around 4-7 months. The creatures are actually the main reason for such a long time. If you're okay fighting placeholder rats, then a playable main quest might be only 3 months away, and by the time the creatures are fully in, most of the quests/AI/models will be done.

As for a version on par with Morroblivion's current version, it actually shouldn't be too far after we get a nicely playable release. I expect that to be in about 6-10 months.

Detailed explanation of progress based on what I've seen in the forums.

Most of the important tasks have big spreadsheets showing who is assigned to what.

By the sound of things in the landscape thread, a few regions are really well done, but most of the more boring areas look terribly ugly due to just being past Morrowind conversion (and some textures didn't convert right).

Interior spaces have lighting problems and can be very crash-happy. I don't think much work has been done on them so far other than fixing these two problems. It's been suggested that lighting should be realistic (making any light source objects actually emit light, and all non-sun lighting come from objects), but the effort hasn't been organized.

All the NPCs are in place as far as I know with their correct faces, races, and names; but the clothes haven't been made, so they're all naked. Not many have their AI packages yet.

All creatures that don't have Skyrim models already are placeholder rats or skeletons for now. Dreugh, Kagouti, Cliff Racers, Scribs, Kwama Foragers, Clannfear, Scamps, Netches, Guars, and Goblins have been mostly modeled. Texturing, animating, and meshing them hasn't been started as far as I know.

Quests will take a while to get done, but it looks like progress is happening fast. This is likely because Morroblivion has most of the quests done and it's just a matter of porting the quest scripts over.

Weapons are mostly(?) finished. Mods really helped in this area. Armor will take a while (probably longer than most clothing since Skyrim has different-looking equivalents of most armor, lowering the priority).

Clutter is one of the few things that isn't very organized right now. I'm not sure if it's been fixed recently in Skywind, but a lot of clutter also used in Morroblivion is far too high poly and can cause severe lag.

Weather has been helped by Dragonborn. There isn't much of a problem here since there isn't much to do (though removing the blight when Dagoth Ur is defeated was never accomplished in Morroblivion. Hopefully a way will be found).

Mechanics will take a lot of work. There are Skyrim mods for a lot of them, but even if those mods can be used, full levitation/spellmaking/cast-when-used won't be finished until a ways into development.

Voice work, while still nowhere near complete, has picked up the pace with an increase in interest and activity. Also, the Morroblivion voices have all been put into Skywind as well so voice work got a good head start. We should see all the male Altmer in the next voiced dialog release, and that only took one guy two days. If work keeps up at anywhere near this pace, we should at least see most of the male characters have full voicing within the year.
