No LOD for Skywind's map

Submitted by EnvyDeveloper on

I have installed Skywind and Skyblivion as per the instructions. However, there is one glaring problem. The Skywind map has only cloud cover and none of the LOD map that I see in videos. And with Skyblivion, it's only the standard Skyrim map. Was there something I overlooked?

Not sure about Skywind, but for Skyblivion you must install and activate beautification plugin.

Thanks Zilav! That worked. I wonder what I overlooked for Skywind?

try adding this to your skyrim.ini

[MapMenu]
uLockedTerrainLOD=8

Skywind needs a proper LOD like Skyblivion instead of ini hack that crashes the game for many people.

But many people seem to have it - and the ini fix didn't seem to fix it?

did you download the landscape lod files?

I only downloaded the full installation and the installer. Aren't the lod files already included in the full release?

no, i dont think so.

this file should be listed in the release thread, or?

The LOD files are in the Complete Install download,and that should load everything into the correct folders.

Note: I have just checked and  the LOD files are definately in the archive. But you must add the lines below to your Skyrim.ini file:

[MapMenu]
sMapCloudNIF=0
fMapWorldMaxPitch=400.0000
fMapWorldYawRange=400.0000
uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
uLockedTerrainLOD=8

sMapCloudNIF=0
fMapWorldMaxPitch=400.0000
fMapWorldYawRange=400.0000

Some of those settings were moved directly to WRLD wordspace record as of patch 1.8 and should not be altered in ini.

uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
uLockedTerrainLOD=8

And those WILL increase probability of crashes. If they work for you doesn't mean they'll work for others.

Skywind must stop distributing dangerous ini hacks, make a proper lod and remove any traces of ini modifications from readme, faq and forum.

Strange - I downloaded Eloth's archive and replaced the LOD files and without hacking my .ini the map showed up. Thanks Eloth :)
