Now i've looked for this subject in the forums and couldn't find anything. I just wanted to know if there were any plans for radiant quests? I can understand if they'd be hard to implement what with the way so many unique quests are scattered threw morrowind. However i think they're still some wiggle room for some of the barkeepers or random citizens to give you something..... this is just a thought that I wanted to put out there for consideration. I can't really tell if it would help or hinder the game really, for me it could go either way. What are all over your thoughts?

Radiant Quests
Edited by: Mehh on 04/28/2013 - 05:09

Clearing bandit camps would certainly have a lot of locations to use. I'm pretty sure most places with bandits had nothing to do with quests in Morrowind. There might need to be some editing of the Skyrim clear bandit quest (quests?) though, to deal with how, because every bandit in Vvardenfell has a name, they never respawn.
As for fetch quests and such, I'm sure there's also enough locations to get those involved. Perhaps areas of dungeons not used in existing quests could have chests and boss enemies put in (big example:getting that Dwemer puzzle box and how there is a ton of area you don't have to touch to get to it...)
I would love radiant quests and marriage in Skywind, personally. :)
No plan for radiant quests so far. I'm not against it though, just lower priority :P
Radiant quests are horrible. Instead of creating a real content like in Morrowind, Bethesda decided to fill empty world with procedural "daily" quests like some generic MMO.
Please, no radiant quests in Skywind. Just no.
hey Zilav, as long as that happens in complement to all the other quests, you wouldn't lose anything :P I, personally, would explore that topic after being done with all the other quests (that is if I'm not working on skyblivion :P)

I'm guessing you're not a big fan of a little quest called The Dark Brotherhood forever? =p

BOOOO, while I do agree radiant quests are terrible.
Its not like we're replacing existing quests with radiant ones. We are adding them to the existing amount of quests in Morrowind. Even more to do, not any less.
I think Radiant Quests have potential to make it not so MMO-like as in Skyrim. I would personally would like the hired thugs when you kill an NPC to come back to Vvardenfell - adds far more immersion that way.
And they won't replace the Morrowind quests - rather complement them instead. :)

Don't you know? They were born lookin' like that lol
The problem with new children is they invariably look terrible. The ones Gen offered up were so hideous it's hard to believe someone thought them up.
How do children work? Is it possible to just make a suitable model and then rig it to a child's skeleton? Or am I just being naive? Or, alternatively, we could just do a retexture of Skyrim's children. Just some thoughts. Would be nice atmosphere compared to how odd the usual mods that add "children" and just stick a bunch of slightly miniaturized adults in look.
I was the one that offered up Dark Elf Children. My friend has made mods for High Elf and Dark Elf Children.
their skin doesn't even look like it has texture at all...
well clearly it does because it isn't bright purple.
New threads keep getting derailed lately. Hmm.

I think it's worth drawing a distinction between radiant quests -- repeatable quests that you can get over and over again, each time with a different target dungeon or whatever -- and world events, which use the radiant quest system but aren't quests, in the strictest sense. I'm all for adding new world events, since we apparently have a lot of unused wilderness space. Sure, it's extra work, but we're already doing a re-design of Morrowind's landscape, so...no i mean visually not literally
Well im glad to hear everybody is for the idea. I'm aware it's low priority, and we may not have the time to get it done. I just wanted to get the idea out there so it could be considered for when there is time to get it done.
Oh we'll have time. Morroblivion is still being worked on, you know.

I of course meant world events, Mooncat. The events which use the radiant system such as the player having to encounter assassins when they have a high rank in a Great House.
Radiant quests in Skyrim were pretty bad because they were a huge filler of the faction questing.
Low priority but as long as it compliments the quests and doesn't distract from the main quests then I'm all for it.
Where is this children's mod you speak of and where do you find it?

Those look terrible. Sorry, but they really don't fit either Skyrim or Morrowind.
Alright, make better ones then.
and besides wouldn't they all be orphans because there are no parents to go with them? i mean if they did have parents there would be dialogue explaining it.
Children is just a terrible idea in general imo :p
I didn't even like them in Skyrim when they were made by Bethesda..
Even IF we did make better child models, I would force somebody to make it optional because I literally would NOT have them in my Skywind..
again....... just my opinion... but don't do it... seriously... in my opinion.

And of course I knew what you meant. :) I was clarifying it because everybody else was focusing on the badness of radiant quests, instead of the awesomeness of world events.I always thought it would be cool if Census and Excise sent out thugs if you didn't give the taxes from the dead tax collector back when asked.
There is no lore behind why there were no children, it was probably due to the fact that getting a PG rating and putting in children in TES3 was never going to be good when you could run around with a big sword and hack their heads off.
But any subject that has people divided should mean that it will only be an add on.
Kittens
Baby alligators
High Elf child maybe?
They really look awesome, i especially love the khajit. Will the kids have the default kid voices, or be re-voiced to suit that particular race?
Can different clothes be fitted on? Because their current clothing seems a bit too Skyrim-y. It'd be nice atmosphere to have enslaved Kajiit and Argonian kids with rags on.
Those beast race children don't look bad.
The lack of children is probably because they wanted to avoid stuff like this...

I guess that's why they're un-killable. Funny though, Deus Ex got away with it.
If children are put in as an optional thing, they should probably be given new NPCs as parents. With Vivec and possibly Balmora getting makeovers, there's certainly potential to add some NPCs if new houses get added. Also, I'm sure the temple would love to have a schoolhouse where young boys and girls get taught temple doctrine and how to murder heretics.
Also, Skyrim did children badly. The only really noticible ones were somehow even more annoying than your average gabby NPC and they were unkillable witnesses who wandered around town for no reason (what's that? you live in a town built on trading and farming? oh, well of course you're going to run to the cloud district instead of learning how to do those things) on top of it. I think children in Skywind could go quite well if their AI packages had them doing more hard labor or going somewhere specific to play. And they should definitely be killable.
Since this thread is about children now (?), we could always try implementing the children that appeared in this classic:
http://lovkullen.net/Emma/kids.htm
I thought these kids fit into the world pretty seamlessly.
ok seriously people? why are we talking about kids in a thread about radient quests? can we get back on topic? please? if you guys want to talk about children then start a thread for them. I don't mind the discussion but i've already seen the children subject inexplicably take over a couple other non-related threads.
Sure how about radiant children quests? Hmm that doesn't sound like a pedophiles mod at all.
Theres not really too much to talk about radiant quests.
Kill, steal, collect, escort...yeah that is about it.
skyrim children had no personality, american accents for every race and the same face and same height. they ruined it.
That doesn't mean it can't be done right with the proper attention and willing voice actors, modelers, and writers.
1. Is there really even a point to voice acting kids, when we're not even 10% done the official npcs, this is just adding more work to the voice actors.
2. Finding a voice actor for prepubescent boy isn't going to be easy, but I suppose a female could always do it, because after all Bart Simpson is actually voice acted by a female. On that subject, we have like 2 female voice actors I think?
3. We're not even 10% or even 5% done the official quests, maybe this should be re-suggested when we're like 75%~80% done the official npcs. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AubmRhWYZsEbdDF...
I really doubt the 3 guys who already have an overwhelming task ahead of them, wants even more quest work. So who actually plans to make these quests? I'd rather it not be the guys who are already working on the official quests.
Also, it does seem a little odd for kids to come up into subject on a Radiant quest thread. It kinda reminds me of when someone just randomly started posting about kids in the Molag Amur landscape thread.
Another thread similar to "transition" and "consistency". Should be closed on sight.
Why can't people understand that such tasks need 1-2 days to implement compared to 2-3 years for everything else. So stupid and ridiculous to read.
Try re-suggesting these in 6 to 8 months, lol.
