Dark Elf Children

I know there weren't any Dunmer children in Morrowind, but maybe it could be a cool addition to Skywind. Plus it could draw people in. I always see people in Skyrim forums begging for Dunmer children.

It's not like children ever

It's not like children ever say important things anyway. They can just use the default child voice. I've actually had Dark Elf children in my game for a while and they use the child voices.

I'm not sure it's a good idea but in terms of voicing I think I might be able to try a high pitched dunmer girl child.

But uhh yeah, maybe not. Not sure really!

Aren't most of the people on

Aren't most of the people on this site prepubescent? Calling all gamers, any volunteers to lend your voices please?

I actually think some children would be pretty good immersion...this time round however the children are not safe from hack and slash of a man or women gone wild...and we can give children voices a skip, unless somebody gets their baby bro or sis to lend a few lines.

There are nord, redguard and bretons in Skyrim. They don't even need to be given voices though. They can just use the default children's voice

We should give the dunmer

We should give the dunmer kids morrowind-style dunmer voices.  It'll sound like they've been chain-smoking since they were born.

had a go at opening the mod in the creation kit, wanted to see about removing the dependency on apachi hair and working out which resources altogether it uses from the drow race mod, but it crashes and was unable to open. To any of you that have successfully modified this mod, what did you do?

GendunDrup: Are you using a public mod, or are the dunmer children your own making / not available?
I'm assuming that if you're retexturing them / bringing them up it's you who made them.
More on topic. I love the idea of dunmer / all races children in Skywind, but I feel like that should be a mod and not part of the core package....
But I'm not die hard on that opinion...

Ya definitely optional as some people seem not to like them GendunDrup do you know how to put them in game? If you could make an esp that places a bunch in the cities of skywind that would be cool, even without updated textures (yet) it could give people a feel for them see how it will be to have them in the game, plus I want em lol

They're from this

They're from this mod

though a friend and I were the first ones to actually make NPCs out of the children race included in the mod. They were adoptable too. My friend also retextured them to make Altmer children too

well as long as they don't look like some japanese elves that's fine. they should also have proper voices and not those stupid vanilla skyrim children's voices.

Thanks GendunDrup! My buddy

Thanks GendunDrup!

My buddy Shadowxdrago was a huge Drizzt' Do Urden fan, so a drow race may get him really excited. :D
I totally think we could use default voices for kids, especially at the start, but if we can find voices that really, genuinely fit, then we should add them. The trick would be finding that quality of voice acting that matches dunmer children....

id guess something young and arrogant sounding. if you guys want children from the other elven races besides orcs, those could be provided too.

first thing I'd suggest -

first thing I'd suggest - would be making a dunmer child 'mod' that doesn't require the drow mod or the apachi hair mod. i.e. a modders resource dunmer child mod. then it can be used as needed? I'd guess that dunmer children are more important than any of the others though?

All the dunmer in morrowind are pretty altmer tier arrogant anyway. Just use Jarl Balgruf's children has reference.

That's just my friend's mod that requires them. It's not like the meshes and textures won't work without the esp.

If we are going to use these

If we are going to use these then they'd need some drastic reworking, imho. Particularly the ears. Those aren't Dunmer ears. Dunmer ears aren't sharper than a knife and don't stick out a mile from the head. Their faces are wrinkled, not shiny like polished silver, and a greyish blackish colour, not greeny-slate.

dude, stop commenting on this thread. You're haven't contributed a single constructive thing. It would be fine if you suggested some constructive criticism but just saying "I don't like this" over and over isn't going to do anything.

Honestly

Really people, how is having Dunmeri children lore-breaking? Hell, I'd bet if they could have, they would have implemented children. Fact is, at that time they had not the time for it. Might not have even been capable of it, considering the time when Morrowind was being developed. Since we aren't bound by a deadline i see no downsides to this idea.

There still needs to be a bit

There still needs to be a bit of texture to the skin. They look like they're made of porcelain. I have never seen a child with skin that perfect.

And their ears are a bit too pointed, though I agree that the size makes some sense considering real children.

Honestly, somebody needs to

Honestly, somebody needs to work on the face mesh to make them look like they are from the Dunmer race. At the moment it is just human adolescents, with a blue face. You could make these maybe Altmer or human adolescents.

I'd have to disagree that

I'd have to disagree that they should look more like grown up dunmer since the characteristics of dunmer tend to make them all look old.

I find it realistic to think that they get these characteristics with age, like real adult people look nothing like when they were young. Though perhaps at least the area above the brows could be done with normal maps like they look on adult dunmer.

true, maybe slightly thinner

true, maybe slightly thinner faces with the sort of ridges (very vulcan from Star Trek) over the eyebrows as well as slanting the eyebrows themselves would help to massively improve their look in terms of believability. The ears themselves are possibly a bit too pointy it's true, but the angle isn't all that bad for a child as already noted - a human childs ears tend to stick out too.
