Hej, you guys prob. need to edit (reshape) the ingame worldmap map at least about ~2/3 of it. I know this because of personal experience and a conversation with beth. Just saying. So what are you gonna do about it?
well, idk. Maybe its enoughe.
well, idk. Maybe its enoughe. Maybe it would be better to think about editing the worldmap in details. (like reshaping the world mesh with small heighs and depths, here and there. Without screwing up placed objects of course) So it would look nearly the same (if done right even better) and it would still feel like Morro. just my 2 cent.
I didn't mean it rude or to harm the projects, I just wanted you to know it. I would love to see Skywind fully legal and on official pages someday :)
Even if we got it fully
Even if we got it fully "legal" (lol at this concept anyway*) I personally wouldn't want to be on the official pages anyway. Nexus and Bethsoft have been nothing but jerks to us over the years. ![]()
* Why the magic 2/3 number? Why not 9/10, or 38/64ths? There is no hard-and-fast rule for fair use (see our site's disclaimer for more info). Even if we remade every single asset by hand, Bethsoft could technically STILL go after us for reusing the original dialogue, characters, and even ideas.
Morroblivion, Skywind, Skyblivion are as legal today as they will ever be - which is to say, there is nothing illegal about them at all, as these projects fall very clearly to the side of the fair use balancing test. If we started charging people to download, or removed the copy protection, or even put up ads on the website, well then they might have a leg to stand on. But they don't. Which is why Morroblivion, Skywind, and Skyblivion are still around.

I personally wouldn't want Skywind to ever be on the Nexus/Beth forums either.
I don’t care what you think!
@3AMt:
I don’t care what you think!
But thanks for thinking and caring enough about it to report it to us,
hopefully someone will put it at the end of the TO-DO-LIST.
2/3, what a bullshit
2/3, what a bullshit arbitrary number. Patient laws usually have 14% difference, "legally" this is not number they can just pull out of a hat. But of the course they can tell you that to remain unbanned in their forums, that you must comply to a number like that, and tell you to set yourself on fire...but you know up to you.
Yeah if push came to shove, we can alter more than a third of the height map because areas will be completely landscaped out with rock meshes. Certainly most of the Red Mountain and surrounds can be done this way...guess what the bottom of the ocean is about to become more exotic...and yes that will be on our to-do-list, behind absolutely every other task that is actually important to get a great game out.
3AMt, Have you heard of the
3AMt,
Have you heard of the proberb "In for a penny,In for a pound" [UK].
If so then you must also know that unless a project is totally designed from scratch, new story line, characters, textures, music, sound, locations etc,it can never be legal in the eyes of the original company or company`s that did the original.
But if we all stuck rigidly to those rules, there would not be any point in starting projects in the first place.
Your comment about heightmaps only makes sence if it made a difference legally, but it is not that simply,as thermador has stated in his reply.
I think what everyone is
I think what everyone is trying to say is... Go away, you're wrong.
Well, if Bethesda wanted to
Well, if Bethesda wanted to shut you down they could do it with a C&D like WarnerBrothers done to MERP lately. I don't think Beth would go against there fans like this (at least I hope so), but you never know...
I just had it in mind quite some time, since I've heard stuff like 'we are creating all by scratch now, aso.' So I wanted to let you know this early on. But yeah prob. there's no need for it, its up to you ;P
I have no clue why so may SW fans are so offensive against me, just because I don't mod for Skywind? There are thousands of modders who don't. So what?
@ Thermador; I agree with you about fair use. It's great that these projects are around ;)

If they wanted to shut us down it they would have years ago. The difference is that Warner Brothers are protecting their IP against creating a game outside of anything that they would make money off. If we were creating Morrowind in the Unreal engine they'd be a bit more edgy about it of course. But at the end of the day it might even make them money if they have extra sales of their Morrowind GOTY and Skyrim gamers feel that they get more out of their initial purchase. I think their smart enough to just let things be.
If they gave us the order to stop, I'd drop the project in a second, not because I'd bow down to the mighty game lords, but because if they shit on fans then no point paying any respect to modding the game.

Well its just that your OP said "rubbing salt in the wounds", so of course you're instantly going to get a reaction. I personally don't have beef with you. I just looked you up in Nexus and see that you have put out a first person perspective mod. I've been waiting for one of those since Skyrim first came out, great job! Going to try it out now.

It is bad. But we have a lot
It is bad. But we have a lot of landscape edits, isnt it helps us to save heighmap?
