No meshes at all

Submitted by philogelos on
The title says it all, really. I installed both the normal Morroblivion and the CNME mod - but, both at the Imperial City docks and the docks in Anvil, instead of a boat, I got a cluster of yellow diamonds with exclamation marks on them. I got the guard to transport me to Morrowind - but I ended up falling through a grey space, next to Jiub, populated only by more of these yellow diamonds. Anyone know what's going on?

When you said you "Installed normal Morroblivion" what steps did you take? Have you reviewed my thread on the Morrowind_ob.esm Project Release? I recommend that you download this master and use it instead of the one created by the converter. I also recommend that you use the MorrowOblivion_World Transport.esp rather than CNME. CNME Conflicts with this project, so you should not use both at the same time. Yellow Diamonds indicates that your conversion did not do well. Try reconverting. You can also try the OMOD. I do not have the link at my fingertips, but you can do a search of this site. This will not provide all the missing meshes required by the new Master Project, but it might help.

What I did was download the mod from this site, download 7-Zip and extract it, and followed the readme on the site. I had trouble with the converter running but I got around that by running it as administrator. After tearing my hair out failing to get the game to see the mods, I finally downloaded the OBMM. When Ano Darano wouldn't take me to Morrowind, I installed CNME. This is where the yellow diamonds became insuperable. I am running a 64-bit Windows 7. Anything here of any relevance? Incidentally, I lumped them all together as one mod in OBMM. Thanks, by the way.

What do you mean by "the mod?" There are a lot of mods on this site, and a few more on Nexus. Exactly what happened with the Converter? Did it finish? Were there errors? How did you prepare to run it? Why would the game fail to see the mods? I don't understand that; everything here is just like any other mod. Have you reviewed my thread on the Morrowind_ob.esm Project Release? Have you downloaded the Cleaned version of the Morrowind_ob.esm Master? Or are you using the files as they were after conversion?

The main Morroblivion mod - you know, the ESP converter and all that. The game didn't see the mods 'cause I didn't have OBMM - I fixed that, at length. Originally, the converter got a little past 'parsing Bloodmoon' and then stopped, simply refusing dead to run any more. It would tell me to press enter, which I would do, then close down. Again, I got around that by running it as the administrator - but even so, I still noticed every so often 'File not found' would pop up. And yes, I have reviewed your thread, I've downloaded the lot of them.

There is a lot of information in this General Thread from Hashmi1 about running the converter, so I'm not going to go through that again. Lots of people have trouble running the converter; it is a bit buggy, and this is a very common prople, so you are definitely not alone here. The best thing to do would be to go back and review the posts on this Forum to find something similar to the errors you encounterd. You need to run a successful conversion for anything to work. The OMOD does NOT have all the meshes and textures necessary for my Morrowind_ob.esm Master. I only recommend the OMOD when it seems like there are corrupt files after conversion. Several people have reported crashes upon exiting the ship. The OMOD has helped them. But, it cannot serve as a total replacement for conversion. You need to get that working. There is a GUI available on Nexus. Hashmi1 recommends it and he has done the most troubleshooting for people like yourself having trouble with conversion.

Right, I'm going to try it. Wish me luck...

Keep at it, buecause it is Definitely worth it. This IS Morrowind (or at least it will be when we get done cleaning it up).

Vvardenfell Imports doesn't work either - any meshes that doesn't originally come from Oblivion, such as the guars, just show up as yellow diamonds.

Even with a perfectly running conversion there are still many meshes not converted, including all the creatures and a bunch of Activators. Eloth and Hashmi have been working on porting the creatures over, and Yoshimo has been placing them in the game. Eloth has been converting Activators, including most of the missing Dwemer Machinery, and again Yoshimo has been placing them in the game. You need the Cleaned Master and it's support files for any of these, but yes it is normal to be missing a few things.

If Vvardenfell Imports is not working for you, then you have not installed it correctly, because it DOES work. The whole project is based on it. The armor is Beautiful. Read the installation instructions carefully. Everything needs to be in the proper place. Oblivion is very particular about that. Examine the archive from your download carefully. Within it the meshes and textures will be in folders. You need to match that folder structure EXACTLY when you copy it to your data folder.

It is starting to sound like you have not run the Conversion. Did you run it? At the Top of the "General" Page is a Pinned Thread called "Getting to Morroblivion." These are instructions. They are extensive. Morroblivion is not for the faint of heart.

Believe me I know. Thanks for all your patience, I know it must be a pain in the neck.

Sorry, but I do not understand your post "Believe me I know." Did you follow the instructions on "Getting to Morroblivion?" Have you run the ESP Converter?

I was just being nice. I followed "Getting to Morroblivion" to the letter, and I ran the ESP Converter. It ran for about five minutes before eventually telling me "Save done - press enter".

A different user had modded Morrowind before running the conversion and also had some problems. This works with straight texture replacers, but not with anything that adds custom meshes. If, for instance, you have modded Morrowind to Use "RobeXYZ" instead of "RobeABC" the converter converted RobeXYZ, but, the common Master file is still looking for RobeABC Which was NOT converted (because it converted RobeXYZ instead). The Morrowind_ob.esm Common Master File needs a Default Morrowind Installation and a Default set of INI files.

@philogelos: If Vvardenfell imports doesn't work for you then its a bigger problem with Oblivion ... not limited to morroblivion. Try the following: - Install the games to a different drive\directory and then reconvert. The new Windows operating systems have a lot of security and protections on C:\Program Files\ ... so running the game from there is not advised. Consider uninstalling and re-installing in C:\games or D:\Oblivion etc. - Try a different operating system if possible. 64 bit and Windows 7 ... are both known to occasionally cause problems. - Make sure that Oblivion is patched. The unpatched version can not handle mods.

I never touched Morrowind - though it is a ripped version using an ISO. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. As for Oblivion, I have the basic game and Shivering Isles. Maybe reinstalling the games is a better idea... I'll try it tomorrow, thanks Hasmhi1.

That doesn't have anything to do with it. The converter reads the installed game on your harddrive not the CD\mounted ISO. It seems you haven't tried any mods before {SI is not a mod} so it is possible that your OS or installation directory doesn't support mods. Its best to try to reinstall both games ... in a different directory like C:\games or D:\games etc.

I reinstalled the game, and I am now happily wandering around Vvardenfell. Thanks for the time and patience!
